QUOTE(yoshiishi @ May 24 2020, 11:01 AM) was going through the faq of the iSAVvy account and noticed this : Maintaining a minimum daily balance of at least S$5,000 over a 6 months period (starting from the second month of account opening) will allow account holders to enjoy 6% interest-on-interest rate. So if I have SGD5k, after 6 months will be get extra interest of SGD 150 on top of base interest ? This is applicable if we open the account from MY? Any catch to this? Sounds enticing.... is this the latest T&C? do you have the link?

QUOTE(GrumpyNooby @ Jun 2 2020, 08:39 PM) Singapore’s Record Deposits Seen Signaling Risk AversionForeign-currency deposits at local banks almost quadrupled from a year earlier to a record S$27 billion in April, Monetary Authority of Singapore figures showed Monday. Deposits from non-residents surged 44% to S$62 billion, also the highest level since 1991 when records began, the data show. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/202...nd=premium-asia it's normal. during bad times, people look to store their wealth at a strong government with a financial track record of stability. you wouldn't wanna store your wealth in war-torn or political unstable countries.

Last month managed to open a Standard Chartered SG bank account. XtraSaver. But of course via the Priority way. Benefit about SC Priority is that your local Priority status is acknowledged/transferable worldwide. So MY = SG = HK = ID = PH = TH Also managed to open Trading account too with 0.18% no minimum (Priority). Easiest way of course would be still Maybank or CIMB. QUOTE(MasBoleh! @ Aug 16 2022, 10:34 PM) What reason you gave to them to open this SG bank account? What questions they asked? If you’re a priority holder, they won’t ask much as they have your details back in Malaysia. If you’re not, say for investment purposes.

QUOTE(lyyera96 @ Feb 28 2023, 11:05 AM) which sg bank you open? I plan walk in HSBC Malaysia branch and submit the form to open HSBC SG bank account Maybank the simplest. Another one is SCB. QUOTE(Ramjade @ Feb 28 2023, 12:17 PM) Update if it's successful.whats the amount to maintain, any terms and condition. Last time I check with SCB they told me need priority on both side. I told them you can keep your account. I keep my money. Personally I still prefer going via CIMB Sg route. Priority on either side only, no need both. But in all overall, the priority status is unless. Wouldn’t recommend. Might cancel it lololololol

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Jul 28 2023, 08:45 PM) Sg is rather old fashion and old school despite them portraying themselves as modern. Last time I went, they do not have thumbprint verification for banks. I was like omg. Haha SG maybank kim eng reset password means they’ll mail you a physical letter with a new code. Worse, the mail usually takes 2-3 weeks to reach you and the code valid only for 30 days, so u only have 1 week to reset password. It’s 2023 and no password reset email. 🙄

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Mar 19 2024, 02:54 PM) haven't been up to date with this.... few years back I know the only option for Msian to open SG bank acc is CIMB (without the need to travel to SG or requiring offiical SG documents) i read through a few latest posts here..... it seems Maybank and OCBC is also an option nowadays? Maybank has always been an option. I did it back 2016 without physically appearing in SG. Just sign up the eSaver acc in big MBB branch and they auto deduct sgd500 from your local mbb account for acc opening. Took around 1 mth to receive the card and letters. QUOTE(hksgmy @ Jun 10 2024, 08:48 PM) Yes, if you have enough for HSBC Premier in Malaysia, you automatically get premier status in Sg - with no need to keep minimum balance in Sg Same goes with Stand Chart also. But I cancelled mine this year already after 3 yrs 🥹 Because of the Stand Chart priority status, they’ll assist you to open SG/HK account This post has been edited by ShinG3e: Jun 10 2024, 11:36 PM

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Jun 10 2024, 11:46 PM) Standard charged told me you need to have priority both places. Anyway I won't waste my time with priority banking. Lol. Things changed? I opened mine on 2021. To be frank, their priority service is getting shittier day by day. Make 0 different when i opt out 🥹 Still looking into DBS

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Jun 10 2024, 11:56 PM) 2017 time. Still student that time. DBS got very good priority service that no banks got. DBS MTRL. The interest is really low last time. Not sure about now. But need SGD500k. If there is one priority that I want to get, it wine with DBS. Lol. Lemme open the basic acc first with dbs then i’ll close the sc lol. $500k doable but abit more wasteful if just leave it restricted, unless, they count shares value into the $500k
