just a small update/ info furnishing, to those who opened an OCBC SG account via OCBC Digital account opening (MyKad and Malaysian passport), you ARE considered as a non-resident.

you will need to maintain SGD $20,000 after the first year of account opening or else you will be charged a fall below fee every month.

i opened a Monthly Savings Account alongside that account and i visited a branch to close the Statement Savings account and the Global USD account will be closed too.

i furnished my work document and passport, i am considered a resident in Singapore and no point for me to keep the Statement Savings account + Global USD account hence why i closed the account.

i was informed that you have to close the account in person

confirmed cannot close via email/physical letter?

just open monthly savings account will do.

as for the other statement savings account, CS told me as long as zero amount in account for 6 months in a row, then will auto close. alternative is walk to branch or snail mail. email or secure mail not acceptable to close account. *no fall below fee as long as zero amount too.

Does this apply to Statement Savings account as well? As I checked online TnC, can't find any info regarding this. Only a minimum balance of $1000 per month.

Yes. Can received USD. It will be auto converted into SGD by Cimb SG.

If you want to received USD, best is DBS my account (if you can open). If no luck, RHB mukticurrency.

I don't keep money in my sg bank accounts. All acocunt only have SGD0.10 biggrin.gif except for Maybank. That one have SGD500.

Just go with MMF. Straight forward. Tiger or moomoo. Pick either one.

Opening an OCBC SG account is a seemless experience.

Thursday night apply via OCBC Digital and approved on the same night.

I then link the STS account to PayNow with my mobile number.

Friday & Saturday do an 'Oversea DuitNow' via Maybank(MY) SGD500 each. Voila! 4 hours later received the SGD 15 referral bonus.

Yupe. Would like a Sunway Money referral, still to receive one.

As for the OCBC 360, I did open one as well & requested a debit card. Will update here once I got it via mail.

TOS 360 can get debit card, the others can't (you must register via app, not website). so "cannot get debit card" is indeed a yes and a no

Oh you open OCBC SG 360 account directly from Malaysia? I remember our friend Mr. Gray says need to start with statement savings account (and open additional accounts like monthly savings or 360) then only close the statement saving account 6 months later.

Now can directly open SG 360 from Malaysia? Would help save the hassle of opening and closing multiple accounts then.
