I'm glad I found this. Went to Maybank just now, and ask if i could open an sg acc and they replied that I can't open it in Malaysia and also that I need a work permit. 

I applied early this month, still use demand draft.

May be they change their procedure for the sg side to ask you to TT your new account instead?

I went to Maybank and open the iSavvy account. Filled up everything except TIN section. Then she said that demand draft is not needed for now. Let the Singapore counterpart to contact me. Is this the right procedure or she's doing it wrong?

Don't worry. IN the same boat as you. But I will provide Maybank SG why I cannot have any TIN.

When i apply for cimb fast saver, dont know why, the field for me to fill in the TIN dont have enough space (the online form limit character), there is a section that let you write why you cant provide a TIN number, I literally just write not enough space for me to fill in

To my surprise, CIMB SG actually called me to understand the situation and I provided my TIN through phone

Yes, but cimb fast saver can fill online form to apply without visiting any branch

Initially after i applied cimb, went down to sg to apply for dbs mca, end up no luck (probably can if you apply vickers but back then i didnt thought about it)

So right after my trip, I faster go and apply maybank

Looks like after receive everything, I will need to TT another 500sgd to maybank before can fast transfer to cimb

hopefully will not be too late before they close my cimb account cos u need to deposit within a month after they open your account

but surprisingly, i can link the cimb sg account under cimbclicks my, can view from there , not sure can just self transfer from there or not

Ok, the staff was wrong. They called me and say 2 things are missing. 

1) My demand draft of SGD 500.
2) My local income tax no.

Got both done this morning and they say they will courier the docs over to Singapore today.

hope you get yours soon, the S$5,000 requirement doesn't seems to be a problem.

expect PIN mailer for internet banking, the rest (debit card, PIN for debit card, account number, M2U temp access ID and welcome letter) all got liao.

however, to set PIN to the Debit Card .. still need to do in Maybank Singapore.

they only give the temporary pin for withdrawal from atm . thats what they say when i call them.
however hv not test it out withdraw from Malaysia atm yet.

The thing is that the Maybank Singapore Customer Service Executive will not forward our call to the actual Maybank Singapore officer in-charge of opening our saving account. So, Maybank Singapore Customer Service Executive themselves do not really know about the actual processing status, unless being informed by the actual Maybank Singapore officer-in-charge.

I called the general telephone number twice a week. After being informed by the actual Maybank Singapore officer-in-charge, the Customer Service Executive should be able to tell you the date on which the items are sent out from Maybank Tower (Maybank Singapore Headquarters in Battery Road, Singapore) by mail.  After a week or so, you should receive the items in your house.

Just wait. SG banks will always send one by one   They won't send everything one shot

Don't worry. All my previous mails from other SG banks/related agency also came one by one.     That person displayed out all the mails you will receive in due time.

Btw, I also didn't receive everything from Maybank yet 

Next you will ask me is how long to wait right? 
Ans: Usually one letter per week. 

Really don't know what wrong with SG banks. Why do they like to send one by one and using normal post. Use DHL la.

I received the letters one by one. The reason I made the list is that you can check your items with mine. If there is anything missing, you need to inform Maybank Singapore.

Within a month or so, you should receive all items and can activate online banking. Did you submit a bank draft worth SGD 500, with your application forms? For me, I did not submit any bank draft, and transferred the required SGD 500 from my other Singapore saving account to my iSavvy account, after my online banking access was activated.

My concern is that after a month, if you still cannot activate your online banking, your saving account may be closed, due to zero balance. If you feel that the delay is too long, you should inform Maybank Singapore.

Another way to activate online banking is through your debit card, as reported by lamode.

for info . my MAYBANK SG items.. i receive all mails space out in 3 days.

however my sister open same time with me.. to date still missing 2 mails.

If not mistaken, it was applied 3 weeks ago. Yes, only received the first letter yesterday via normal post.
