What is the Transaction Instruction and Purpose of Payment chosen when sending CIMB MY -> CIMB SG ??
Doesn't seem to have suitable option if just want to open account for share investment. sweat.gif

If not mistaken under "Others" got "Investments" (forgot the exact sentence, it's damn long one)

Nope. Read above posts shared by myself and also DJFoo000.

I've recently also compiled it into a detailed step-by-step blog post on opening CIMB SG account if you're interested.

Newest CIMB SG Fastsaver rate: 0.3% p.a.

Effective from November onwards.

https://www.cimb.com.sg/en/personal/help-su...ount-rates.html

I believe it was 0.5% earlier.

Maybank still stays at 0.1875% though. The spread is getting smaller. smile.gif

Just use stashaway to park your money. They do need passport to open account though.

Warm reminder. Stashaway Simple in SG is different from the one in Malaysia.

The one in Malaysia, also called Stashaway Simple is invested in Eastspring Islamic Income, a MMMF (I use it as well, but I deal directly with Eastspring via FSM). This is a true money market mutual fund.

The one in Singapore is invested in 2 OCBC mutual fund. And if you look into the fact sheets and other documents of the 2 funds, a majority are invested in bonds, not truly cash funds (despite one of the names "Money Market Fund", which is misleading).

https://www.stashaway.sg/faq/900000744806-h...ate-calculated/

So, technically the risk your bear is similar to that of bond's risk. That's unfortunately the only way to earn a mere "1.4% p.a." return.

Anyway, Ramjade, can the Singapore version of Stashaway Simple function like a bank account?

Say I can transfer directly from Stashaway Simple Singapore to my IBKR SG account? Is that possible?

I am not talking about stashaway simple my version.

They invest in short term bonds. Correction. Unless 2008 happens again money is pretty safe.

This is an investment, so there is a level of risk, but it’s incredibly low. The StashAway Risk Index for StashAway Simple™ is 1.7%. That means you have a 99% chance of not losing more than 1.7% of your AUM in a given year.

I have used those short bond funds before and I like it.
If you are scared, go and input in yourself both the fund and you can see the result. The results speak for themselves.

My personal favourite United Cl A SGD fund.

I learnt from a Singaporean to use it as a pseudo high interest account. So to answer your question yes can be used a bank account.

No. Unless you can stand long withdrawal time. Then yes.
Stashaway SG -> SG banks -> IBKR

Just wonder if it's normal for CIMB SG to take a while to revert the bank account opening application?

I already funded S$ 1,000 via transferwise and requested linkage from CIMB MY since Sunday (2 days ago)

Yes if you never fund it by 30 days.
You must transfer money from CIMB MY (first time)

Just keep checking your MY <> SG linkage progress. If it's "gone" then call them, and rejnitiate linkage.

If its approved, do internal account transfer to SG (at least 1SGD) from CIMB MY.

Just keep checking.

I funded 100 from TT
1000 From transferwise HK

And many here's have done transferwise / instarem 1000

It'll be fine but key thing necessary for approval is cimb clicks linkage then do at least $1 internal transfer for E-KYC process

You must also do a transfer from CIMB MY. This has been mentioned before everytime we talk about Transferwise.

Hi, how did you open the SG account? Maybe I read wrong, but I thought I need to go to (MY) branch, but the CS there said not possible to open SG account, only MY account denominated in SGD.

I see a bit later someone mentioned doing it online, any link please?

EDIT: Some googling later I found this and did manual application. Now waiting to link it with my CIMBclicks....

https://www.cimbbank.com.sg/en/personal/for...fastsaver.html#!

The minimum to maintain in this account is how much ah?

Thanks for the link! but stated there i either need to be a SG PR or have work permit? how did you go about it?

As of 3.30pm today, my Singapore account verification completed and activated. Received SMS for CIMB Clicks SG activation code. And also an email on the application approvals update.

Surprisingly they didn't call me hmm.gif but oh well, 2 weeks of nightmare is finally done (11 Oct - 22 Oct)

---
Edit 23 Oct: they called me because I sent one support ticket before 3pm on 22nd Oct, just for formality. Here's what I found :
- my experience (and a few other recent applicants past 14 days) have these issue because of internal confusion on CIMB CLICKS MY team (they claim that they just had some shuffling / new joiners that was not clear with SOP)
- after EKYC transfer, typically they didn't need to call and will auto approve / reject as long as you already done first round call verification and have 1000SGD inside

Nope. Read above posts shared by myself and also DJFoo000.

I've recently also compiled it into a detailed step-by-step blog post on opening CIMB SG account if you're interested.
