Replying from this thread since I have a question on DBS SG.

Not sure about your story with him, why did you recommend to close DBS SG account? I think having a facility to receive USD in SG is not a bad idea for emergency purposes right?

Or did I miss out anything?

while waiting for his response,...
if i am not mistaken,...previously someone mentioned that or something like this...,..they have this fall below fees (if monthly balance less than xxx, than $$ will be deducted....)
thus i guess, that maybe part of the reason

I was told to keep at least $500 in the posb account to avoid fees many years ago. Not aware that it allows for $0.1 in the account.

I was not sure if I want to transfer back to Malaysia later on. I'm thinking of getting a credit card from Singapore if that is possible as a way to use my savings for daily expenses in Malaysia. Not sure if that is even legal...

If i can remember correctly, previously ramjade mention a type of posb saving a/c that has very low fall below fees... I can't recall the name of that saving a/c (I think not all type of posb saving a/c)
Or use a normal posb a/c to open a dbs a/c that requires very low balance n has very low fall below fees.... (just cannot remember that particular name of that saving a/c)
I cannot remember in full details
Ramjade, pls confirm.

Both nexona88 and me knew abt this thread and the many valuable contributions made by forummers...
The problem now is a forumner in another thread mentioned abt "not true" and "nonsense" for he said need to adherd to MAS and Singiass KYC requirements.

most probably he does not want to find this to be of any use. As to him it is not necessarily true and nonsense too

well..
many actually...
but they don't express openly

we needed to be open...
if wrong, needed to accept others people inputs / answers...

not everyone knows everything...
*
I believes he think he is certain that he knows what is true and not nonsense about it, else he would have not lambasted posting of yours with words like "not necessarily true" and "nonsense".

well...
then should proof it...

so I & Ramjade guy is wrong...
*
Then now, since he is quite and silence about it.
I think he may have realised what he previously believed to be ....
True is actually not true
Not nonsenses is actually nonsense
Not necessarily true is actually true
Nonsense is actually not nonsense

Yet his ego of having believed he is always right and he knows more than others could have prevented him to admit that he is wrong. It hurts too much to proven wrong again.
Try use nicer words to correct others, try not to use words like "not true" or "nonsense again", ...unless you are very certain to be correct.

It's true Maybank and comb Sg is under MAS jurisdiction and not under BNM. So as long as MAS continue to allow Malaysian to open account via Maybank and CIMB from Malaysia side, no issue. Only if MAS said no then both banks have to comply.
*
Of course most people here know BNM has no juridiction over Spore banks in Spore...only MAS does.
Btw, Does MAS have the same standard for all banks in Singapore with the same requirements?
Or they hv separate standard or requirement for different banks?

Just a note, ....

Banks may hold, reject some transfers if more than half of an account's balance is moved out
https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/b...-oct-15-5383281

SINGAPORE: From Oct 15, banks may hold or reject transfers from accounts with balances of at least S$50,000 (US$38,800) if withdrawals over 24 hours amount to more than half of the total funds.

The safeguard will be triggered when a transaction, together with other withdrawals in that time period, exceeds 50 per cent of the available amount.

The new measure from Oct 15 will apply to accounts with balances of at least S$50,000 and is part of enhanced fraud surveillance.

"Customers may experience delays in digital payments and transfers, including for legitimate transactions, as banks step up their checks to protect customers," said ABS.

"Customers are advised to plan time-sensitive banking transactions (for example, for share purchases) in advance to avoid incurring fees and charges due to any delay."

Major retail banks – DBS, OCBC, UOB, Citibank, HSBC, Maybank and Standard Chartered – will implement the safeguard to all current and savings accounts, including joint accounts.

The safeguard will apply to all digital banking transactions done through bank apps and internet banking.
Non-digital banking transactions, including cash withdrawals at bank branches and ATMs, will not be affected.
