I need to fund my SG account for some investment.

You do know that cimb sg does not have EPS facility? It only have FAST (our IBFT) and for investment, you need EPS most of the time.

Might I suggest to use moneymatch/instarem/max money to direct transfer RM > SGD straight into your DBS/POSB bank account?

cannot I think.
the limitation is that the transfer amount must be from a sg bank with the same recipient name.
In addition, they will transfer back to my sg bank when I request a withdrawal in future so I guess a SG bank account is needed in long term.

If you cannot wait 2 weeks my method is the fastest way to get money into your SG bank account. I am not asking you to transfer from moneymatch/instarem/max money > Cimb SG.

I am telling you to use moneymatch/instarem/max money > DBS/POSB bank account. I am not sure what investment are you buying and via what platform. I am not sure if you meant DBS Vickers or DBS/POSB bank account. Different you know.

To transfer money back, just wait for your token to arrive. Usually all investment platform In SGD requires you to have EPS to send money back into your bank account via EPS. So as mentioned Cimb SG is at an disadvantage there as they don't have EPS facility.

The 3 local banks , maybank, and I think 2 other foreign banks have EPS.

CIMB SG normally uses Ordinary Mail to send anything to its' Account Holders in Malaysia. My CIMB SG ATM card took 7 working days to reach me by Ordinary Mail.

How did you request for the cimb Sg atm card? I got mine security device after few weeks and didn’t receive the atm card.

Any charges for the atm card?

There is a one-time issuance fee of SGD10.

CIMB Bank Singapore is not a part of ATM5 network. So for fee-free ATM cash withdrawal, you must do it at CIMB Bank own ATM. The most convenient branch would definitely be the one at Orchard Road located above Abercrombie & Fitch.

Hi,

Does Maybank isavvy account in Singapore allow to keep the currency in USD?

I've checked on Maybank MY Foreign currency account, and they mention there is charges of USD4 for each deposit & withdrawal. Besides, you need couple of documentation to prove the purpose of the account opening..

I'm looking alternative to transfer the USD fund back and forth without losing much on the conversion rate. Any advice? Thanks

Best choice use transferwise borderless account. Come with free USD Bank account without min amount required. Here are the fees involved.

Actually wrong. I use them successfully transfer to a UK company which needs a UK bank account. So their service is good.

They are not bank but they are regulated by UK laws.

Excerpts from the webpage of Transferwise :-

TransferWise is an authorised Electronic Money Institution regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK.

We're required by law to protect your money by storing it in a low-risk financial institution (in Europe this is in our UK Barclays bank accounts).

That means that, in the unlikely event that TransferWise became insolvent, your money would be unaffected and should be refunded to you in full.

If our official Banking Institution (in Europe this would mean Barclays), became insolvent, your return of funds would not be guaranteed as the account is not guaranteed by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).

We take the safety and security of your money very seriously. We fulfil rigorous regulatory standards in UK, Europe, US, and every country we operate in. As such, millions of customers trust TransferWise with their money, we currently move over £1 billion around the world every single month.

----------------------

We have to see the terms and conditions imposed by Barclays Bank for claims by us if there is an insolvency event with TW.

Secondly, how long to settle the claim and refund the amount ?

Ramjade, I pose my questions pertaining the fund transfer here, because I do not want to derail the discussion about S-REITs in the S-REIT thread.

How do you pay for the share purchase of Keppel-KBS US REIT (Stock Code: CMOU), which is denominated in US Dollars?

Do you transfer your Singapore Dollars via FAST, to your Maybank Kim Eng Trade Prefunded Account, and let Maybank KE convert your SGD to USD at Maybank KE's rate, to pay for the share purchase?

Or, you already have Maybank KE Multi-Currency e-Pay account (http://info.maybank2u.com.sg/personal/depo...rency-epay.aspx), whereby you transfer your USD into your MCEP USD Current Account which is then used to pay for the share purchase?

I remembered that you mentioned before about MCEP account a long time ago, but I am unsure whether you have moved to better alternative or not.

Thank you for your information. smile.gif

For now I convert USD at maybank KE rate. The dividend will offset exchange rate.
Wanted to open maybank mcep but it requires you to have maybank and account link to CDP and must keep USD10 inside. It don't work for prefunded.
Working on something, hopefully it can work and it will be free.
