QUOTE(kkm @ May 29 2010, 02:53 PM) <To repeat my post from v3, in case the closing means no one saw it> Just need a quick comment, tech came yesterday and installed a 512kbps line although I applied for 4 mbps (usual TM cock-up!). Anyway, I asked him to check the line. The modem says SNR is 25db and attenuation is 35db. He is saying the SNR is good, but the attenuation is marginal, that I shouldn't go for 4 mbps as the attenuation will go up, and the line will be unstable. So he recommended for me to upgrade to only 2 mbps. Any comments/advice? Not recommended to go for 4mbps. You'll get faster speed, sure, but most likely you'll face a lot of disconnection issues. Your attenuation is too high. What is the rest of the statistic (specifically Rate(kbps))?

Hmm I'm getting speeds around 420KB/s max. That's below the requirement rite?
Should I call the contractor or TM to get my port capped to 5mbps? My contractor told me that if ADSL port is capped to 5mbps, then it's 5mbps package (unifi).

QUOTE(Acrisius @ Jun 15 2010, 06:12 PM) Wrong, you will still capped under your username. When the port is capped 5Mbps, you will be able to get full 4Mbps, but not 5Mbps. Yea, that's what I thought. But the contractor still insist. So it seems that I should bother TM about this...

QUOTE(Acrisius @ Jun 15 2010, 06:18 PM) You can try to call them to request to cap under 5Mbps. So you may able to reach ~500KB/s
Ahh, too bad. They don't want to cap the port to 5mbps. I guess 400+ KB/s speed should suffice.. According to their policy, it's 80%, so it's 3.2 mbps. Added on June 15, 2010, 6:24 pmQUOTE(redkord @ Jun 15 2010, 06:23 PM) It's already 4mbps activated. So, you should try different place to do speedtest. If you upgraded to 4mbps, then you'll have to wait a while for your account to be updated. This post has been edited by Demonic Wrath: Jun 15 2010, 06:30 PM
