Sager would be a good choice for getting overseas.

But even with GTX 480M, the increase in performance is slight compared to the ATI 5870.
*
well, for benchmark it migth around 5870. if came into gaming, it oout perform then 5870 ^^, but the battery life is like, doh.gif doh.gif

For those who think wanna change from alienware to sager, may need to read this..i take from NBR user that experience with sager notebook...
*
Alienware M15x doesnt seems to be good quality as well, u cant compare like this bro.
Alienware expensive and performance lower than Sager which sager offer the same price with better performance....

M15x is huge enough already lol..M17x.. dont dare to imagine.
Still if I were to regret and get a m17x it's too late, I'm leaving on 25th lol.

Yea. It looks almost the same size, but only in real life can you see the big difference. And the M15x's screen has a wider border compared to the M17x giving the illusion that its supposed to be big when its not.... There's more space in there for other stuff if it was more efficiently placed and utilized.... But that could be reserved for cooling purposes....
*
i have to admit that, Alienware have the best cooling system ever, compare to most of the brand

Cranked my 5850m all the way to 900/1100 just for benchmarking.. (13707)
Funny the result (3DMark06) is similar to what I get from 780/1050 (134xx)
120mhz of difference gives only 300+- of score? I don't understand lol.
*
overclock wont give u a boost in gaming experience or benchmark.

Wah. Thats pretty far that you managed to OC that baby. The furthest I managed to OC my 5870 was to 950/1150. I know some going as high as 990/1190 but those guys from the notebookreview forum kinda crazy. The last time I played with those clocks I got a BSOD so I never tried it no more. Plus PC Mark Vantage didn't complete well for the 5870 running on clocks higher than the 950/1150 I set. Maybe its due to heat issues or due to the fact it was installed by myself and not factory installed which could have been more efficient (Thermal paste,pads and all)...
I heard good reviews of the 5850. I think those thinking of getting the M15x should go for this instead of the GTX 260M icon_idea.gif
Small boost got. Big one no. Personally tried and tested around 4-6fps using the GTX 260M OC. On the ATI 5870, Managed to get around the same 5Fps or higher but not to double digits in fps increase yet. But definetly made demanding games like METRO2033, CRYSIS Warhead and Battlefield BC2 on higher settings smoother for me. thumbup.gif
BRO! I wish I could have YOUR SYSTEM!!! SWEET!!!! rclxms.gif  flex.gif  rclxm9.gif

my GTX480, cant even play high and resolution at 1920x1080, FPS only 30++ CPU clock to 4.0Ghz(Core i7 930)
wondering how laptop works...

i ccc..that's why when i ask CS why still put ati 5850 on the web if you dont have stock for it..then he start giving excuse..i am being played..damm..will call again tomorrow requesting for upgrading..
*
well, dont call d, they will have same answer, because thier system had stated that "informed no stock". even u call, they will keep on say no stock.
Some CS is better in giving excuse, they will say " For spare parts of Ati 5850 currently is out of stock, currently only have 5850 for new system and warranty issue only" at last "thx for calling dell, have a nice day "

I tried METRO 2033.

Details = Very High
Resolution = 1920x1080
Antialiasing = MSAA 4X
Texture Filtering = AF 4X
DirectX 11 Settings= Tesselation ON, Advanced DOF OFF.

Still managed to get very smooth gameplay...

Alienware m15x could actually used m17x as m17x are mostly dual gpu configuration.
*
nowadays most of the M11x make it as Dual GPU d, doesnt same a slast time GTX280M is too expensive, but me(T9800 upgraded to QX9300), doc(Q9000) and greesmonkey(QX9300) bought it tongue.gif tongue.gif
now need only 4 figure can reach crossfire performance, last time need 5 figure cry.gif cry.gif
