QUOTE(kidmad @ Apr 3 2012, 01:17 PM) Sure sure! let me monitor the oil from time to time. Haha Haha i know where you are coming from but i can't help it when it see the blardy full syn oil selling at RM80. I even drain my current semi oil at 3.5k just to test out this tesco fully syn. lol You drained out my LM10w30!! >.<! I feel wasted weyy.. like a good cup of alcohol poured away QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Apr 3 2012, 02:23 PM) If car manual say to change every 5000-km, doesn't matter whether it is Mineral or Semi or Fully Sync, all have to be changed at 5000-km. No exception. And your reason?

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Apr 20 2012, 06:37 AM) One of the purpose of engine oil is to suspend the contaminants (eg. soot) produced during fuel combustion. Since a liter of Fully Synthetic can hold exactly the same amount of contaminants as a liter of Mineral Oil, both get saturated with contaminant at the same time, hence same oil change interval. To those who said FS can last longer is to say a gold bucket (more expensive) can hold more soil than a iron bucket of the same size is talking nonsense. That is defying physic and logic. Makes sense, I like you. What about oils being hydroscopic over time absorbing moisture once it's exposed to extreme heat, and FS oil qualities not breaking down as fast as M or SS?

I'd agree with Optiplex330. Usually recommend my customers to change at longer intervals if they use like 6-7litres of engine oil

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Apr 25 2012, 10:37 AM) The theory is, once the oil poured out from container, they start to deteriorate regardless of whether you drive or not drive. Hence either 3 months or 5000-km etc. IMO people are unnecessarily concerned about engine oil. As long as you use oil of the correct viscosity and grade and change at designated interval, your change of having engine oil related engine problem is as great as being hit by lightning. Meaning, extremely rare. And this is regardless of Mineral or Synthetic. they're hydroscopic. But I cant find the explanation to cars with 10,000 or 15,000.00 OCI on the service manual

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ May 6 2012, 12:29 AM) If using correct grade and viscosity, shouldn't happen. Something else must have caused that. Fake oil? I wouldn't know. rather stick to brands that done have 'fake' recognition, not even once

upgrading to a race oil for an everyday road car. What do you seek after changing oil? Is it worth your money? Thats an important question.

QUOTE(rocketeer_ace @ May 23 2012, 02:27 PM) what I really seek is smoother engine and fuel economy (if possible )... my friend suggested me to use the racing spec oil because it performed better and the price slightly higher than the normal SR1. which is why i'm asking the 'guru' here to get a 2nd opition... If that is your target, dont use race oils =___=!! These oils give superb performance during race, but does it really protect the engine? What about oils that are specialized in a form of additives to give you superb protection?

QUOTE(huakenny @ May 24 2012, 09:25 AM) the best way is to try out the oil itself...im trying different brand of engine oil to my car every oil change.... I tried enough oils wey. Liqui moly being given the best feel and protection, but torco gives performance. Pennzoil platinum is also good, chemlube, royal purple also nice. So-so oils would be mobil1, esso dunno what oil, e****, magnatec. Shell's ultra helix is suprisingly a "clean oil". Btw, when come down KL man?

QUOTE(sengasdf @ May 31 2012, 10:13 AM) Bro, the Ceratec can be mixed with any engine oil? May I know where can I get this products? yes it can be mixed with any oil Added on May 31, 2012, 5:33 pmQUOTE(Optiplex330 @ May 30 2012, 06:53 PM) This is the part I never could understand. If the surface is dry etc, you can make thing stick to the surface easy. But the inside of the engine are full of slippery oil and it is practically impossible to make anything stick to it unless under very high pressure or temperature of vacuum etc. So how does this ceratec manage to stick to the surface? Sounded more like voodoo magic to me. Active chemical bonding agent. What about Magnatec? This post has been edited by ThunderGod_Cid: May 31 2012, 05:33 PM

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jun 1 2012, 06:13 AM) Possible but unlikely. Engine and oil are designed to prevent that from happening in the 1st place. i see. then what about coatings such as http://www.wpctreatment.com/ ? They get scrapped off too?
