Yesterday went to KLCC to test Desire (and unfortunately being bang by an idiot who doesn't know how to reverse their car out of parking lot on the same day).

I find that the menu is disappointing. Hardware wise is okay, fast and sleek. I was hoping they can make software more user friendly. I tried to find contact for a minute without success. The htc staff that serve me also took 30secs and said its not his phone. LOL... the downside of Android is that its a bit complex, better than WinMo but still behind Apple OS3.

There is always some learning curve for smartphone like this.  You should buy it and play with it at home while browsing thru the User Guide.  **dun come here posting questions which answers can be easily found in the user guide like some of the new Desire users here**  doh.gif  laugh.gif

My wife always complain that her SonyEricson's interface is not user friendly like her previous Nokia (both are oldie phones).  sweat.gif

I was not asking any question. Just a personal view on the highly rated Desire. Its OVER-RATED for now. Maybe after a few updates, it might be able to truly challenge Iphone OS3.

Thanks for dropping by... do checkout the review below, it'll show you the pros n cons of each fon's coming os... not to say that you are wrong, it's just that we rate desire high coz it fits to what we "desired" in a fon dat so far iphone cannot satisfy us... since iphone can satisfy you, you proberly won't find Desire "Desirable"..keke... at the end of the day, it's just everybody's personal pref over features vs performance vs style vs budget vs marketing.....  tongue.gif

No wor, I dont own Iphone as well. The reason why I said Iphone OS is better is because its easier to nagivate around the menu etc. Afterall, its a phone ma. Android feel a bit like PC, that if you got the time to play with it and it can be accomodating. The main weakness of Iphone OS is Flash and Android is gonna have Flash support. Nothing is perfect. Just own preference.

The screen is really nice though. Not to mention its thinner than I imagine. I wonder how hard it is to slot into your pocket like some forumer claim to be.

PS.. I forgot to say that I REALLY HATE ITUNES!!!!

rm2399 for RRP digi is it?

LOL... no wonder la.

Actually for once, I really feel Maxis really made a good offering here. I also blur blur when the HTC staff told me that it will retail for 2.4k but I read in Maxis leaflet only 2.2k.

Yeah, one of the reason that attract me to Android is to see how OPENSOURCE would change phone computing forever. Android is still in infancy stage but already demolish WinMo. Its already proven flexible compared to Symbian or Iphone OS.

Now just need it to mature and spread its wings.

the 500mb data plan that i subscribed still havent active yet
n the result is rm380 data usage bill for 37k Kb usage

not only that..the maxis CS also told me that the contract still havent active yet?
really doh.gif

how stupid maxis can be
others that also on data plan for desire..u guys better check also
i took the plan from maxis centre klcc

I think the same can be said about the rest of them. I just switched from Digi50 to Smart Plan and I called them twice after 24 hours to double confirm my plan has been activated. Usually takes 1-2 days (48hours) to proceed with the plan.

Any of you folks here have compared the Desire with iPhone? I know it's not apple-to-apple comparison (sorry, couldn't resist the chance to pun this) but compared in terms of the following areas:
- UI smoothness and speed
- screen image/video quality
- camera quality
- call quality - experience any drop outs
- speed of connectivity and browsing experience
- battery life

If it's easier, using rating of 1 to 5, 1 being "poor" and 5 being "excellent". So a comparo would look like this:

UI - iphone 3, desire 5
screen - iphone 4, desire 5
etc ...
*
Totally disagree here. I think Iphone UI is easier to navigate. Inter-related programs are linked together, like Contacts, Call Logs, Keypad etc. Desire one is a big question mark.

Wishing u all the best.
The thing with all of them is when they change the plan, most of them didnt change the billing date, but bill you accordingly to the numbers of days you use the package. Not sure about Maxis, but for Digi, when I changed my plan to Smart Plan, I did double confirm that the 3GB limit will be divided by the numbers of days left before resetting the data cap.

Added on June 21, 2010, 10:10 amLets the countdown begins for Digi user...
72hours...

Yape, will udapte you once I got my Statement. I dare not turn on the Maxis data now....Imagine if next month they told me your bill is more than 500rm....then i will be sick. I know i will never exceed the 500MB because im using my office wireless network while working and at home I have my 4 Mbps wireless broadband. So I dun see why i will exceed the 500MB, it just ridiculous.
*
Actually 500mb is not that much lor. Before this I actually thought its quite a lot if I didnt download anything. Wrong...

I tried MapleStory for 2days (few hours per day) and used over 200MB... LOL... I cant believe it as well. Im using USB teethering and Ovi Suite shows 100MB+ for each session. I did not surf anything lor.

Hey guys, long time reader/lurker; first (or second) time poster.

I initially got the same problem with you guys in regards of the Maxis statement mishap. Imagine that they messaged me sating that I owe them RM600 plus!

So I promptly replied to them that I am under the data plan, 3 gig per month to be exact, and I do monitor my data packets, which has not even exceeded 1 gig this month.

At first, the call centre guy tried to give me an excuse that probably I've been using more than monthly plan I've subscribed (Which is BS), and probably I've been using my phone outside Malaysia (another BS)

After I replied that what they suggested was utter crap, than only they said it's probably the system error.

What I got back from Maxis after my nasty feed back was that:

Data plan is capped at RM450. If you exceeded it, they'll automatically cut it off.

But that is what they say, and not what they did. :-P
*
Just like their phone calls la.
Lastime when Im still on Maxis (before MNP), I was told if I set a limit to a supp line, it will cut off after reaching the limit. I set my mom line to RM50 because my sister is abusing her line without her knowledge. When the bill came, guess what. RM12x for that line... where's the cut off?
