QUOTE(z3r0717 @ Jun 10 2010, 03:27 PM) this is the common issue for the HTC desire. it is the same as if u on wi-fi then off it and then on mobile network, it won't work.. Let me guess, do you guys a widget to toggle the WiFi/GPS/Mobile connectivity? I find that whenever I use a widget, there is a chance it may fail.you don't have to restart the phone, u just go to the mobile settings where there is wcdma only, gsm only, gms/wcdma auto... Added on June 10, 2010, 3:28 pm dude, just read a few post back... just discuss this earlier Instead of restarting my phone though, all I do is just manually go to Settings -> WiFi/GPS/Mobile, and play with the settings there. For example, if I'm' facing a Mobile connection problem like this: 1) I toggle the Mobile widget on. However EDGE/HSDPA still not enabled properly. 2) I toggle the Mobile widget back off. 3) I go to Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Mobile networks -> Network operators, then select Select automatically 4) I toggle the Mobile widget back on. EDGE/HSDPA is then detected properly. TLDR: The Settings application is more reliable to toggle your connectivity than widgets.. This post has been edited by Andrew Lim: Jun 10 2010, 03:34 PM |

I own a Hero but my day job is being an iPhone developer.
I have to agree with andrekua that the iPhone is easier to navigate for the lay person. Contact search is easier and I find the soft virtual keyboard easier to type in iPhone than in Android. But for overall customizability, Android and Sense UI beats iPhone hands down. |

QUOTE(vexus @ Jun 17 2010, 08:47 AM) android or htc gotta pickup, they introduce too many rom in a year and too many model in a year. Lots of time spend in r&d new model & new os/rom. Apple only r&d for one product and and racking more profit and more user. They got to change their strategy. They cannot follow nokia path, which is a failure now. Android on the whole seems to be growing well actually. Quantcast: Android's Market Share Near 20 Percent Of course most of that was probably driven by Motorola Droid sales. Nokia fails in the USA market because it doesn't like working with network operators to provide subsidized versions of its phones. That's why the N900's sales are so poor there. The Nexus One's sales are also poor compared to the Droid because Google also avoids carriers AND retail stores. HTC phones seem to sell better. Important lesson is to work with network carriers. |

Everybody who has an iPhone usually has a casing, because the glossy casing of the iPhone is a real fingerprint magnet.

I think it's possible using the Google Maps API. I've developed one application on Android (although not map based), and the process is easier than Apple's. The SDK is free, and unlike an iPhone you don't need to jailbreak or get a provisioning profile to install it into a physical device.

QUOTE(KTCY @ Jun 22 2010, 09:52 AM) Wow. Any tutorial on developing an apps ? You'll need to know how to program in Java. Make sure you download the Java SDK. Well, I guess the navigating part must code up with GPS else it won't works Then download the Android SDK and run the auto updater. I recommend installing at least these 2 API levels - 1.5 (for devices like HTC Hero), 2.1 (for devices like Desire). 99% of devices out there run on something between these 2. If you develop using 1.5 as the minimum, practically every device out there supports it. After that start reading the Android Developer's Guide and check out the samples included in the SDK. |
