Actually my situation is like this, I already got my architecture degree (part 1) in another Uni and going to study part 2 architecture( 2 years course) in UKM. I'm from Sabah and currently working in Sabah, will work until end of Aug and is quite rush for me to join the orientation. And I plan to stay outside of the campus as well, because we might need to do our work without day and night ( if you have architecture friend then you will know what I mean), so its not a good idea for me to stay in hostel and sharing room with others. Is there any possible for me to skip the orientation week and not to pay the accommodation fee to staying in the hostel? Write a letter to the officer?
I see bro. Let me tell you, the orientation is actually managed by student's own hostel senior students. If you are not planning to stay in hostel, you have to call up to your hostel office and let them know. Yes, you may not need to pay if you are not planning to stay inside. But you have to inform them earlier before the sem starts. Ask for their direction.
Actually accommodation week can be skipped, regarding to the courses registration would not be a problem as long as you have the Internet. Just that during the orientation they will teach you all the basics including courses registration.
Btw, what hostel did you get?

How about actuarial science? Do they teach in BM or Eng?
Really sorry but I am not studying actuarial science. Teaching in BM or BI depends on the lecturer. There is no fix language to be used. Anyhow, regardless of they are teaching in BM or BI, if you prefer to use BI, you always can do your own study or research using English material. There is no fix textbooks anymore when you are in university.
As for me, I use both Malay and English materials though some my lecturers taught in English some in Malay.
