Well, the SXPS 16 got good screen for watching movies and also got good after sales serivices from Dell... Unless don't want to maximize the budget 4K, then the inspiron 15R also good enough...
As for Vaio, did said if want something colourful....

need something within rm3.5k. screen size prefer 14" or 15". for multimedia and gaming usage(not that hardcore). anything good to suggest? was thinking of a42jv. but after looking at acer's price now thinking back. biggrin.gif any brand would do.

Well, if considering the onsite services provided by the Dell and also not really demanding in performance, the Inspiron 15 should be worth enough.
Personal experience with Dell services? Not yet, got one family member using SXPS 16 and still working fine...
As for other brands, you need to send your notebook to their service center....

Asus A42Dr, AMD N830 + ATi HD5470@RM2599
Acer 4820TG, i5 430M + ATi HD5470/GMA HD@RM2599
MSI CX420, i5 450M + ATi HD5470@RM2299

The believe the Acer would be the lightest and thinnest (correct me if I'm wrong), but will the CX420 difference a lot in terms of weight and thickness? If not much difference (not that we human can notice it), then I'll choose MSI since they have the same spec...

100 gram i don't think I can personally notice it, how about the thickness? some notebook thickness can change when the battery is removed...

ATI 5470 > Nvidia G310M, but there is a new ATI 545v and notebookcheck.com has not provided review and testing yet. Any user of 545v know where it stands ?

Ati 5470 > Nvidia G310M > 545v or

Ati 5470 > 545v > Nvidia G310M

hmm dell got maximum 16 inch screen, i am looking for something around 17 inch. for some reason i kind a dislike the bezel of xps 16, too thick i might say. Today i have check out some laptop shop in lowyat, but most of them are 15'4.
have any other idea?

thanks

planning to gt a dell studio 15 with i7 processor with 4.3k bt i heard it has serious heating problem. is it true? even with a good cooling pad? is there any other laptops i can gt from asus or toshiba with no issues for that price? processor i5 or i7. 4gb ram( at least) graphic card 1gb. for gaming and movies.
i keep my laptop on for a long time so i wan a com that is durable and with no heating problem.
