The terminology Android users use is "root". Rooted/Unlocked Android phones gives you full access to your device. By default, your carrier/retailer doesn't allow you full access (for obvious reasons).

You can chose HTC Desire, which Maxis rolls out at lunchtime today in KLCC. It has better specs and larger screen. Body casing of course no fight to Legend.
If you want to wait a few more months and like Iphone design, Samsung Galaxy S.
If you want to be the golden child of Google and be the first to get Android updates, Nexus One.

Android is an OS. Like Win98, WinXP, etc. You can't access certain folders in your Windows OS.

You want access to those kinds of folders so you can optimize your phone.

Reading the manual after getting the phone is tech. Download from HTC if it is not provided.
