9800gt = 8800gt in 55nm, 9800gtx+ = 9800gtx in 55nm = gts250.

No, it cannot be done. The core is far from being the same

9800GT = 112 SP
9800GTX = 128 SP

You can't magically make the extra stream processor appear in the core.

The OC guru has spoken biggrin.gif Yes, I agree to what Mr. kucingfight says and if you want to make it run super fast, go WC or a big HSF then a volt mod. The last time I did it on my 8800GT, it gave me some outstanding 3dmark scores and performance. Disadvantage = super HOT rolleyes.gif

Flashing of BIOS can make that. But, I am not sure about Geforce 9800GT to Geforce 9800GTX.
But, for laptop, I have seen Geforce 9800M GS flashed to Geforce 9800M GT for better performance! biggrin.gif

The performance gains from 9800GT to GTS 250 isn't really that much. I would recommend something else like 270 or higher.

Btw I'm using 8800GT and Dirt 2 runs fine w/o any slowdowns at all. Don't think it's hardware issue but something else

OS issue? Usually that's the case when your OS becomes over crowded.

No, what I meant was, if you have plenty of "other" things installed on your OS it tends to give you that jerking effect. If you're sure that all the software you're running is acting like it should, then probably you could check your HDD and RAM =\
