Sorry, total Android Noob here. Haven't bought an Android phone, but planning to do so soon.

I see here that people are using Market Enabler/etc to get full access to Android Market. Which brings me to my question: The Maxis website has a section for Android Market, and they seem to imply that Malaysians can use the Market to download apps (both FREE and the ones you have to pay for). So is this just a blatant lie/false advertising by Maxis? In reality, the phones we buy from them don't have Android MArket?

Or am I not getting something here? blink.gif Please help.

Market is available for Malaysia. But only FREE apps. Paid apps are not available for Malaysia yet. Thats why we use market enabler to activate it.

If you have problem with Maxis' advertising, you may want to give Maxis a visit and get them explain to you :-)

Paid apps are available to certain countries, with certain carriers only. Read: http://tinyurl.com/2cto7zc

I bought HTC Hero September last year, original set from SIS, and this thing came without Market.

MarketEnabler is used to make Android Market to show you paid apps. How? Read: http://tinyurl.com/38g3hxp

I guess Maxis is bringing in the Market for you. If you still need confirmation regarding this, as a way protecting your money from bad investment, you certainly want to give Maxis a visit :-)

Thanks both to Shahz and Leviathan for answering my question

And I did Google/search around before I asked this. Just that most pages/posts I read were from last year. I thought maybe Maxis had just started providing Android Market recently...

BTW, the one that's providing the (free) Android Market is not Maxis but HTC. wink.gif

Comment : Hi,I have am using an android phone with a maxis subscription.I noticed on your page for android on the maxis website (http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/android/Android_Marketplace.asp), under the marketplace it says that you can "download more than 50,000 paid and free apps for your Android Device".However, on my phone with a maxis sim, I am only able to see free apps, and there are no paid apps listed. Even if I search for the app by name (from the ones listed on the Top Paid section of your web page) they do not appear.Interestingly, paid apps appear when I am using my phone overseas with a T-Mobile UK SIM, so it doesn't seem to be a phone issue, but more related to the maxis sim.Are paid apps not available with a maxis sim, contrary to what is mentioned on your web page? Or is this something being planned to be released soon by maxis? Would you have any tentative date on when this will be available?
