I think there's a way to do emergency braking without ABS. Something like what the other Jason did, pump the brake. But that takes practice. Those young drivers who start with cars with ABS sure die when drive cars without ABS.

I'm just a year older than you la. Haha I meant the new P drivers. They are worrying. Even our generation was worrying enough. lol
But I had to privilege of driving a non ABS equipped car (WIRA!!!!!!!!!). Somehow I got a feeling my first kiss will come with an ABS car. |

To those talking about emergency braking: I usually drop a gear down (auto) and brake lightly when there's mass braking during jams, especially LDP and Federal Highway. The engine braking aids a bit. Since I started using the technique I never lock wheels already.

QUOTE(jasondotcom @ Jun 24 2010, 08:46 AM) -Yes. Drop gears is the way to go during emergency braking OR while slowing down at high speeds. Just beware of the speeds u are on and drop gear accordingly without over-revving the engine till over the red line. It ain't good for both engine and gearbox. I dunno about my Wira, but for the Persona, got once I accidentally shifted down too ganas and went straight to L... and I was going at about 90kmh... I straight panic thought engine blow... but nope... it didn't downshift. So I experimented and just let the car slow down by itself... when it reached the max speed for the L gear, I think about 50-60... then only the shift happened... but can feel the pull back damn kow strong |

QUOTE(jasondotcom @ Jun 24 2010, 08:55 PM) wow u fulfilled my long time wondering about if that works! always wanted to try it out but don't dare at all. finally u "tested" it and proven it! hahaha... yes it is the ECU coming to play sensing that the speed ur traveling is over the selected gear's max limit. the ecu sensed it and automatically does not allow that inappropriate gear to engage. -applies to auto only No prob. Haha Wira on the other hand... Anyone wanna try?nice one! thanks for ur accidental down shifting! hahaha |

QUOTE(vson @ Jun 26 2010, 04:41 PM) guys! my friend just got his brand new vios G spec facelife version number plant "WUB 20XX"... My Wira 3 gear auto also can own Vios... Persona no need say lar... he is so "LC" want to challenge my elegance, from 0 to acceleration and till top speed... in terms of engine cc and horse power is lower than persona a bit, but on the other hand, the body weight is 200kg lighter than persona and he is using 185 60 15R and persona is using 195 60 15R. i scare persona will lose due to weight and wide tire drag. any command on this? just a friendly testing on our car capacity only... but scare that persona will... You tell your friend, "Your's not TRD or Vios Sportivo, not worth my petrol and time". Or you challenge him, whose car can reach 200 first |

QUOTE(jasonlcy @ Jun 26 2010, 11:23 PM) Hello fellow Persona-ers (whoo..weird word), Mine ok. With 5 adults inside. Still can pecut up. I reckon I should pop by and say hi since I got my Elegance (Auto) model already =) Been waiting for it for months! Took it on a maiden voyage all the way from Ipoh to Kuantan! [o.O] Anyways, some questions from a newbie auto-transmission user: 1. Noticing that it lacks power when going uphill (Genting road). Kancil oso potong me like nobody's business. What gear should I use when going up inclines like these? 2. I hate the latency between pedal and engine response. Since it's the fault of the drive-by-wire system, is there any way to improve this? Let your car season sikit I think ok de, when I first got mine, it was damn sluggish. Even that hill in front Astro also like struggling. Now that hill... haha... child's play |

QUOTE(vson @ Jun 30 2010, 11:07 PM) Oic... Now I get ur joke... Haha... After your race only you say this la? Actually, what they say is right. Vios is quite small when two ppl with a normal Asian man body size sitting side by side in the front sit. Our shoulder is quite near to each other. But our persona still have some shoulder distance... Added on June 30, 2010, 11:11 pmEach car have their pros and cons... It is up to the driver/owner to judge... Drive safe and drive smart guys! From the proud owner of Persona Elegance. Vios back leg room quite little I feel. I'm 5feet6 only. QUOTE(shelby_yong @ Jun 30 2010, 11:12 PM) actually we can say.... saga is same class with vios.. and persona same with toyota altis.. i try toyota altis 1.6 and compare with persona.. overall persona is better... but altis rear seat is much more better then persona.. persona rear seat too straight already I thought for PE they readjusted? |

QUOTE(IceBikers @ Jul 3 2010, 11:12 PM) today i take my new car, first car of my life 1. Mine also had the same prob but i realised it was that rubber thing placed on the door was the cause of it. I moved it down a bit and it was ok. Persona Elegance Auto B Line, Bronze Garnet. Booking : 10/06/2010 Down payment: 23/06/2010 Take cars: 03/07/2010 Loan: Maybank Islamic - 8 years + MRTA (RM325.70) Insurance: Allianz However, after taking car was found a few issues as follows: 1. The back door (both side) would be more difficult to close and need to use some force. 2. When on the power, there will be eeeeeeeeee sound near the dashboard. Even after engine n power turn off, the eeeeee sound will remain for a long time, at least 3-5 minutes. 3. Air conditioning always kick in, and a loud wuuuuuuuuuuuuuu sound will be heard ... Is this normal? Quite annoying.. 2. That sound is quite common. The sound from mine went off after first service. 3. That's what makes the persona unique |

QUOTE(muslayer @ Jul 4 2010, 06:42 AM) Totally agree. If you opened a "Honda/Toyota/Perodua/etc problems thread" also will be bombarded. Or maybe it's just the sick mentality of Malaysians. QUOTE(IceBikers @ Jul 4 2010, 06:55 PM) I tried to remove the rubber and still cannot, no different, still need to use force Oh then maybe your door bengkok or something. Take back to Proton and check.Yours is normal, that the sound of engine checking(i suppose) whenever the ignition is switched on and will go off after a few seconds. Mine is extra eeeeeeee sound from the dashboard Today i also found another problem, there is sound when i take turn left on rough face then a right U turn on a rough surface, i supposed it can be solve by installing the valve thingy? |
