That's why i prefer a car that has been on the market for quite a while. No point rushing to buy a model that just launched... Usually there would be problems uncovered.

QUOTE(iambenyap @ Jun 11 2010, 05:30 PM)
On another note, i drove my sis's saga blm to Genting one time. During the downhill, got many times the brake totally won't work. The car still moved downhill without slowing down even after I fully stepped on the brake. I had to swerve to the side to avoid the vehicle in front of me during a couple of the speed bumps. Luckily the road was wide enough with not many cars. I swore to never drive a Saga BLM up there again.
*
QUOTE(muslayer @ Jun 11 2010, 05:32 PM)
That one is brake overheat, not car problem. Stock brake pad i assume. Please don't simply say is car problem. tongue.gif
*
QUOTE(iambenyap @ Jun 11 2010, 05:35 PM)
Well, the stock brake pad should be better. =D
*
QUOTE(iambenyap @ Jun 11 2010, 05:54 PM)
I've only driven down genting a few of times only, the previous times using the Nissan X-Trail. I always just let the car roll/cruise down using the lower gears without trying to apply too many brakes. But this incident with Saga BLM happened very early, not long after I started going downhill. I don't think I've applied the brake too many times, but I guess i overestimated the potential of Saga's stock brakes.
*
Bro different cars works differently and have their own respective limitations / limits. Usually stock brake pads are not sufficient enough for downhill abuse. Trust me man... Been driving soo many cars over soo many years already. And plus, not every stock brake pads are the same. Some are pretty good enough and some are just so so and some are just pure shit.

My best advise is, replace the brake pads to a much better pads eg. performance brake pads and you will for sure notice a hell lots of difference.

For example, i drive a Persona with sucky stock brakes and as reported from many of our buddies in here are the same. I myself am a aggressive styled driver and this for sure, is not enough for me. So since i do not want to modify the stock brakes like what i did to my ex myvi with civic vtec disc rotors and caliper brakes, i just replaced the front stock pads to performance type pads like the Trestor Advantage. Why i chose this pads is simple. It is not too expensive and it works at least 50% much more better than stock pads. Other good pads i have used before are like TRON Ceramic metallic and Bendix Metal King Titanium.

Trust me man, its purely because of the stupid stock overpriced brake pads (cost RM200 plus in SC).

After reading all this drama, I feel the owner of this vehicle should blame himself/herself for what happened.  If the brakes are bad on the very first day, why not reject the car till it is fixed for safety sake.  Even after 1K Km, the problem still persist, I think it is hell of a dangerous for other road users.  Any car with brake problems, be it new or old should have been fixed immediately.  I feel this complainant is very incompetent in handling the whole situation.  And why this car owner did not get Proton to replace the fuel gauge quickly. This driver's mind has more problems than the car.

Change ur brake pad to better one like Trestor Advantage Blue (cause cheap RM 6x /= )  and Bendix Metal King Titanium then u feel more braking power. Stock original brake pad sucks.....
Also HQ SC i think not so great, i think a lot Student Mechanic working there.
*
Yes you are right. Changed mine around almost 10k mileage if not mistaken. Pretty happy with it ever since.

Yes, can change rear drums to disc but requires some modifications which i believe is no big deal since i ever transplant civic vtech disc brakes on my myvi last time tongue.gif

QUOTE(JonSpark @ Jun 13 2010, 02:16 PM)
Steering vibrate around 110-120kmh

Any lower or higher than that range, it wont vibrate or it wont be that obvious

why ah?
*
it is because of two things that i experienced:-
1. Wheels are out of balanced. Per wheel balancing costs about RM8 to 10 i dun remember.
2. Front disc rotors are warped. Yes, somehow Persona have such effects. Why? Cuz that time my front rotors were warped and every time i drive around certain speeds, it vibrates due to the tight clearance between the pads and the rotors while spinning.

QUOTE(jackyap84 @ Jun 13 2010, 02:22 PM)
Only booking fee RM200...
*
It is way too long man. I am not sure about elegance model, but i dun think that its due to production shortages... it is not a very hot selling model like the myvi last time. I think its time for you to chase them every week from now onwards. Be firm. No more mr. nice guy.

QUOTE(xterminator @ Jun 13 2010, 03:50 PM)
I get my persona b-line garnet yesterday... so far i really like it... Why i smell something burn like plastic at my car engine?? isit normal?
*
New car will always emit such smell for a while... Especially after high speeds, high engine rev, hard braking etc for the first time... No worries. It will be gone after a while.

Same as mine. They say had to do alignment, that day i ask at Proton Authorized SC they say it costs RM55 for 4 tires.
*
alignment and wheel balancing are two TOTALLY DIFFERENT things.

alignment is only done if ur wheels are not pointing in the direction where it is supposed to point. therefore causing uneven tire wear and also a steering that is not "centre".

wheel balancing is done if ur wheels are off balanced which causes vibration.

many ppl in here i noticed are really confused between these two things. please get it right and not cheated.

Myvi delivery time still that looonnggg?! Ahahah... OMG. I thought not anymore. Last time my myvi i waited 6 months man!!! That was back in year 2006.

If my front disc rotors are warped, will it affect the acceleration? Mine lately macam slower abit. Its not sluggish, just hard to pull the car away from a standstill. unsure.gif
*
Disc rotors warped causing slow acceleration? I dont think so. Mb u could free the gear from idle and push the car a bit and see if the car moves easily and freely without braking..

is it? but i read from some personas from some forumers in here does indicate (door open indicator) when the rear boot is opened. i am one of those that do not have it so i wondered if its a fault or by default. if its a fault, anyone fixed it or not.

i dont think its a fault...it default, no indicator when the boot is opened or didnt closed properly. i don saw any things that same like on our door (those rubber things that press the other rubber on the car frame to indicate the door is opened) inside the boot
*
ic. but weird mah i see some forumers in here says that they have it... i just wanna be clear on this.

oh FYI, some cars dun need that "rubber things that press the other rubber" which i bet you meant the usual switch. Some cars the switch is built into the locks itself like MyVi's boot.

Mine on the driver side got a bit of "kluk kluk" (soft sound) while lowering and raising. Never bothered to go SC fix it since its not broken.

SHIT... that reminded me.... I wanna claim a new cabin light unit. Mine failed previously and was "repaired" by SC but its now back to square one.

Sad case. I wonder why it cracks all soo easily. Heard too many reports from our fellow forumers about this same issue already. IMHO It's either poor lens QC or the assembly subjected to extremely high heat from the bulb causing premature failure.

Finally... my itchy modding mood is back....

Bought APM Performax low profile springs for my Persona. It's for gen2. Part number PCS3316. RM150 whole set of springs. Why i bought the springs meant for gen2 is because, persona's version... i can hardly find any. So most ppl would use gen2's low springs to match persona's. Since the car body weight is almost the same.

Why i chose APM Performax? I have been using this brand for years on my ex MyVi. No regrets and love it.

One word of advice though... never buy from car accessory or mod shops cuz it costs much more for the same stuffs. You are better off buying from spare parts shop like me.

As gen2 and Persona shares the same suspension design... it can be used. EXCEPT that the front you need to change the top spring plate which cost about RM30 per piece.

But since i hv been b****in about the Persona being tonggek at the butt, and of course with much independent research, i changed ONLY the rear.

Now the whole car looks leveled!!!! Love it.

Rides still exactly like stock. Not bumpy etc. But can feel that its SLIGHTLY stiffer than before. It is very comfy. Loving it.

Initial photographs to share with you all.... and NO... i have yet to take the photo before and after..... stay tuned to the before and after though...

*
of cos la! but by right should be warranty void for the area that you modded. For example, if mod the engine....then engine warranty would be void but others by right remains since its not modded.

anyway.....stay tuned for before and after pics!!!! i am still at work.... just now curi tulang go buy the springs and do at the workshop. hahahahaha.....

some SC said...if u service outside...ur warranty void..i did not even modify anything in my car...WTF..? mad.gif
*
it will be void when and only when the workshop you go to is NOT AUTHORIZED Proton workshop. For me, i prefer to service "outside" at authorized Proton service centers since i can get it serviced faster, no long queues and i can get up close and personal with the mechanics and close watch of my car. And some more, the one i go to opens till 6pm and even on Saturdays which suits me because of my work. These authorized workshops are usually branded as proton service agents.

furthermore, more choices of engine oil which is within Proton's oil requirements etc. But for warranty sake, need to go back to SC to do so for faster processing and etc.

Authorized workshops will always have Proton's banners and the mechanics all wearing Proton official mechanic clothing. If in doubt, can always ask Proton SC for their other service agents outside.

Yes i just replace the coil springs with low profile springs. Labor to replace is RM40. And yes, i just replace the rear only. Ride still remains ALMOST like stock feel except that it is SLIGHTLY stiffer at the rear. Just very slightly only.
