Wan to ask a question unrelated to Alpha system... My sister ask me recommend her a new lens for her Olympus EP-1 with olympus adapter, but I don really know the system.. I checkout their website for the available lens and i was quite confuse at the way they put the focal length.. Example:
ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 50mm F2.0 Macro 100mm (35mm camera equivalent) or ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-35mm F2.0 SWD 28-70mm (35mm camera equivalent) As far as I know, Olympus din release fullframe camera. Looking at the 2 example above.. I should actually b looking at the 100mm + 28-70mm (35mm Camera equivalent) correct? im a bit confused by the number. their range is very unusual to standard brand. she was looking for an olympus lens that is good for potrait... mayb like a 50mm F.14 on A700. |

QUOTE(Mikeshashimi @ May 31 2010, 05:23 PM) Wow.. Thanks.. tat explain really quite a lot. I really din know there r difference between these sensors... all i thought is apsc n fullframe..sensor n they apply for all brands. Now, I really donno how to related the focal length of what i hv with A700 system with the olympus 4 third system...damn.. im just so bad with technical number things. QUOTE(Kul | Mo0 @ May 31 2010, 05:35 PM) Mind telling me 14-35mm F2.0 = 14-35mm on A700?QUOTE(soket @ May 31 2010, 06:00 PM) NVIDIA bringing 3D images to Sony's Alpha camera lineup o.O Need a glass to view the photos in 3d? Eventhough im doing 3D visuals, but Im not really a fans of 3D movies or so (with 3d glasses).. I think they r baddd.. especially in cinema one...saw the Sony 3D TV.. is a lot better but still doesnt fancy it.. rather watching it conventional way GeForce a480 GTX ???? http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/31/nvidia-...-camera-lineup/ |

QUOTE(Kul | Mo0 @ May 31 2010, 06:58 PM) clivengu : If 14-35mm F2.0 can be mounted on a700, it will be 21-52.5 f2. But Olympus's crop factor is 2x so it will be 28-70 f2.0 (: Hm.. okey.. wan give another example. correct me if im wrong.28-70mm(the zuiko lens) on Olympus E3/ Ep-1 =same as= 28-70mm on A700... or similar |

QUOTE(lwliam @ May 31 2010, 07:22 PM) put it this way, all those numbers (eg.50mm) written on the lens, those are referring to the angle of view on a full frame. Wow. good explaination.. but my head still spinning... trying to make sense of the the figures. cause i was using A700 as a comparison.. so now i hv to think like this ... A700----> fullframe----> final image in 4/3 olympus...then whichever sensor size you put that lens on (assuming all lenses can be attached to any body at all), multiply that mm with the crop factor (eg. 1.5x, 2.0x etc.) then you will get the equivalent view angle which you can get on a full frame sensor/film. so in your example above, putting a lens which is written 28-70mm on the respective cameras, u will get equivalent of: A900 = 28-70mm A700 = 42-105mm (equivalent of a FF) four thirds = 56-140mm (equivalent of a FF) Take example 50mm Lens on A700 (i wan this Angle of view in end photos), in A900 i will need a 50mmx 1.5 = 75mm lens to produce that kind of angle. And for Olympus system to have a photo of angle like 50mm on A700 = 75mm/2 = 37.5mm Olympus lens on olympus body. Sorry im making it more complicated.....i hope this round im right... To Summarize... what ever focal length shown in the olympus website, when use with olympus system, will be exactly the same angle of view of a Non-olympus lens on any fullframe body. http://asia.olympus-imaging.com/products/dslr/lenses/ * ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 50mm F2.0 Macro on E-3, will have same ANGLE OF VIEW with a Sony 50mmF1.4 on A900? QUOTE(lwliam @ May 31 2010, 08:07 PM) Hahahaha.. finally correct! cause i din use fullframe so to suddenly ask me imagine how a focal length look like in fullframe i can hardly Imagine it... so i need to relate back with the crop factor 1.5x on my A700/a100 which im used to. btw wliam. Louise oredi pass me ur "angpow" will give it to u next time we met. Really appreciate your help yesterday. No more Free photoshooting from me after this round hehe. |

QUOTE(Gouki @ May 31 2010, 11:08 PM) make it simple~ on a900 + 50mm = 50mm on a700 + 50mm (50mm multiply with 1.5x crop factor) = 75mm so if on E-3 + 50mm (50mm multiply with 2.0X crop factor) = 100mm QUOTE(lwliam @ May 31 2010, 11:15 PM) you got it correct the 1st round edi ma, why u add the asterisk pulak? now its wrong d... hahahha... it is Olympus' flagship model, but the E3 is not a full frame camera. Ahahah Wrong again.. No, i don mean E3 is fullframe and I don mean to put this Zuiko lens onto a fullframe camera like A900.cause the spec of the zuiko lens r confusing..I thought they do not Name their lens focal length base on 35mm fullframe camera.. Instead they name it by following their own system (as if the e3 is their fullframe, n all their lenses when mount on their camera will be in FF angles) er.. okey final observation.. make it simple, if i get this wrong again i think i will give up This lens: * ZUIKO DIGITAL 25mm F2.8 50mm (35mm camera equivalent) This Zuiko lens mount on E-3 has the same ANGLE of view/Zoom as when a Sony 50mm lens mount on A900. Tell me this is Absolutely correct! This post has been edited by clivengu: Jun 1 2010, 12:06 AM |

QUOTE(eddybeh @ Jun 1 2010, 12:08 AM) great to hear ieR is here.. too bad.. occupied tomolo... Cause there is nothing else to shoot... hahahaha.. Gown, high heels, ear rings, rings, cosmetic tools, flowers, calender, teapot, games tool (like wasabi), those are OBJECTS details that can be shoot during wedding other than just the People... give the whole series of photos more variety.. Of course there is no rule behind this..can shoot an old chair, decorative items that can tell a bit of the story and the wedding setting... and bout the tradition behind it...i suppose is Photographer culture not really wedding tradition? the bride din say MUST shoot her shoes... if the shoes is dirty and ugly i rather dont shoot at all.. But if it is a JIMMY CHOO shoes.. im sure they r proud to let u capture in ur photos.1 thing i m curious after i see so many wedding pics by u all. y have to shoot the high heels? have any norms or culture or tradition behind it? |

HAhaha.. the Vest i got from Sony is way too Large for me..never use before.QUOTE(ieR @ Jun 1 2010, 01:08 AM) no need kejam, take it positively, take it as a challege to improve urself to handle bad situation and to overcome it! I always give priority to the videographer.. I think their job is to follow the couples every seconds and basically recording everything.. and photographer will be exploring around for composition.. from different angle ...super tiring...The video light can b tricky.. but sometime it does give u a bit of touch to your photo when u can overcome the problem. example like creating Highlight & shadows.. when u shooting the bride walking down the aisle from the back...accident happens.. is either bad or good oh, but there is one thing i really hate, SUPER HATE. is videographer, they sometimes thinks they are the bigger, they pushes u, try to stay out their way. sometimes, they will scold u in the face if u step into their frame, making u 400times harder to shoot then the 'small problem of people walking into ur frame'...and their stupid video light will KILL ur photo. |

ianho: The Sony Carl Zeiss Planar T* 85mm F1.4 ZA with autofocus is sharp at F1.4. It has a different optical formula from the Carl Zeiss 85mm F1.4 ZE (Canon EOS mount) and Carl Zeiss 85mm F1.4 ZF (Nikon mount.)
Thats my gonna be my target lens of all times!! clivengu: For portraits, there is the Leica 25mm F1.4 for FourThirds. Something longer would be the Olympus ZD 50mm F2.0 Macro. Leica!! lovely... but are they Autofocus.. and how to use it with Olympus EP1? need adapter from Leica? MechaHerc: Yep, DOF on the FourThirds system is deeper.
