he is in his mid 30s. despite the cost, we have no idea how to bring him for check-up or treatment. he could be violent and scary at times and on other times he is a fine man. it got worse now as we hardly understands what he is talking. talking about cost, i can only think of government hospitals which im not sure what is the proper procedure especially when the parent is not involved.

what is the contact no for dept of welfare if such dept exist ?

First of all, you need to get the consent letter from the family if you are given the permission to take him for treatment/care. Take that letter along with you, bring him to one of the governtment hospital, to get him a certified letter regardless about his mental illness, especially with the stages of it. Then head to the welfare department, there are different homes in Malaysia meant for mental illness people, I do have a contact of them, if you want I can give you a hand on that. They do take care of them and cost will be free if he is under the care of those homes.
