I just came back from Perhentian Last week, went there after completing Kapas Marang swimathon.. End result = very tanned skin haha..

For pulau kapas.. decent water.. very dead coral .. boring and lousy resort.

For Pulau Perhentian.
We got a ride from Marang jeti to KT, from there we took local public bus to Kuala Besut (warn here), we took the 2pm bus and we arrive at 5pm at Kuala Besut Jeti (we almost miss the last ferry towards perhentian).

But it's really cheap RM10.60 per pax

We stayed in Arwana Resort, RM277 for a room that fits 4, per night (no packages included, only breakfast included). The room is spacious but basic, but compared to what we had in Pulau Kapas it's considered luxurious already.

Breakfast for two days I stay is good. There's also a big swimming pool surrounded by rooms you stay.

Our activities.. We did something simple, brought our swim training goggles, fins and snorkle. We rented a Kayak and goes around Perhentian Besar. We did stop in place we felt beautiful and do our snorkelling there. The best snorkelling place is at those place where they don't bring tourist for snorkelling. but water can be choppy.

It's very excited but also felts creepy because you are completely on your own. The other side of Perhentian Besar is totally undeveloped and inhabited. Both of us aint good kayaker as well, it took us 7 hrs to do 5 stops of snorkelling plus kayak around the island (around 22km perimeter). It's very tiring but most rewarding island trip I ever did.

The next day we woke up, did a trail run from Arwana to Perhentian Island Resort, it's a nice and simple trail. At Perhentian Island Resort we went to climb over some rocks over the shores for some better view (you can see perhentian kecik looks connected to besar from here).

Dinner would be on the pricey side as it's a holiday resort island. We eat our first night's dinner around RM60+ something basic + beer. and the following night around RM140 for food (ikan bakar, lobster, gigantic prawns, it taste very good) and another RM120+ for liquor drinking to celebrate our Keyaking trip.

The water visibility is very good in early morning but after the sun come out it can get very murky. Totally fall in love with it, but apparently the corals are dying from too many tourist and also environmental factor, feels very sad for that..

Nice one bro thumbup.gif

3 years ago I go Perhentian Besar with my friends, there were 4 of us, we rented 2 kayak and go around the Besar island.
The other side of the island really abit creepy, and we saw sharks too blink.gif scare the hell out of us, we kayak with all our energy to leave that place immediately. Back to the resort, the staff told us that the sharks won't bite, already familiar with people snorkeling and diving there. It is known as shark spot, where the resort could bring the tourist go for diving / snorkeling, with extra charge.

Took us around 7 hours too, and we got serious sun burnt.. haha.
We were all first timer in Kayak. But maybe we were young and daring that time.

It was a really fun and amazing experience.
