Google said Froyo won't be available for the G1 officially. This is due to insufficient ROM.

But then still we G1 users can get it. In fact, there already is a port available on XDA-DEVELOPERS but its buggy. Try it out if you dare.

And worst is, the X10, much like other phones that SE did after their last hero phone, is like a half baked product. It looks beautifully finished, but inside it still lacks a lot of features. Most notably is the multi touch display. SE used to up the aces with great phones like the K700i, W800i, K800/810i and not to mention the P1i. The P1i was a very good PDA back then. 3 years later, disappointing.

yea, get in line Legend and Desire. We were here first and still waiting for Eclair.

No..you don't have to wait for the OTA..The recent method was actually for you to use with STOCK recovery and STOCK ROM..But since most of us are rooted users, alternative upgrade path was implemented..This may clear it all
