QUOTE(hihihehe @ May 22 2010, 12:15 AM) u mean htc with sense ui go for rooting to become vanilla android? Not necessarily. If you have a rooted stock SenseUI image, you wont have to go to vanilla android. There's a subtle difference between 'rooting' and flashing a custom ROM, although both process is interrelated.

QUOTE(shahz @ May 25 2010, 02:29 PM) I will not comment on HTC phones. I know Desire will get it. Not sure about Legend. Its not that they can't have it. Its HTC that's way too slow in producing the updates. You guys are talking about a rather short time frame for Android 2.1 -> Android 2.2. Some of us here have been using HTC Hero and have been waiting for the Eclair (NOT EVEN FROYO) update ever since we had the device. Think about our impatience yea, get in line Legend and Desire. We were here first and still waiting for Eclair.

Find a rooted Froyo or Froyo-based custom ROMs and flash it.

yes flash it. You cannot update if you're on a custom recovery ROM as mentioned by allenlyk up there.
CM6 is a FroYo ROM by Cyanogen. It's 'full of awesome' but it is not final yet. So there are some unstability issues there.
