seniors mostly skip the 1st week of class.

best solution is call mmu and ask.
i think its ok to do the medical check up a bit later but troublesome. payment is always more important for them

if not than ask a friend or any1 in forum if they have an empty 1 and make a copy for u.

Important policies/annoucements are made in the 1st class.
You will get the class schedule after you complete your course registration. You can see your timetable there.

Hi, I have not seen the videos. My opinion is, you can always dont take part if you dont feel comfortable :-)

edit: ok, i have seen it. If such thing done to you by the src/orientation committee and you feel uncomfortable with it, you could always voiced out to STAD. SRC is not what I would say a strong student body in MMU ;-)

On the accomodation part, dont worry too much about getting a hostel room. There are plenty of rooms to rent within the bukit beruang area for students. It's a big community here.

lol.. yea but they post it on their 1st lecture slides and what policies do you need to know? been there done that so many times u get used to it. and lecturers would cancel 1st week of class all the time. whats the point of leaving home early for 1 or 2 hours of class that week?

I think only a small majority of the lecturers cancel their 1st week class. As far as the timetable is concern, 1st week is a valid lecture week and lessons will begin. Apart from missing the crucial policy, usually the lessons are important for basic background. I guess that is why many students who skipped the classes have problem understanding the subject later on as the class progresses. Also that is why many students claimed they never know on the subject policy. So it is either you wanna advice the new students positively or the other way round ;-)

well i dun find any problems couping with lectures even after skipping the 1st class.. and maybe ur from cyber or different faculty cos here for long sems the 1st class is always canceled last minute. if not it just goes for 15-30min and go back.. "thats all for today"..

not that i want to teach them something bad but its a fact that they will learn sooner or later. i am just telling them earlier.

p/s: i am not from SRC so my advise might be a little orthodox.. but i still support some of their activities.
*
No, I am in Melaka campus, FET. While I don't deny there are lecture classes being cancelled last minute, it is not right to generalize them all. What if the new students skipped the first week and there is actually something important being disseminated or being taught for that particular subject? Let's not make this a culture among MMU students smile.gif

Okay, I just receive little info.

Bringing Notebook is necessary because they'll teach us how to check our timetables and schedule since Gavin said, everything will be done through internet.

But for those who don't feel like bringing, it's fine as well.
*
Good info, but I hope the new students wil not panic if they dont have any laptops (they seemed so worried about the dress code already tongue.gif ). You can always share with your group members with laptops. If the briefing is done in lecture complexes, I am sure they will show how to check these stuffs using the projector for the benefit of everyone, no?

Just some note to all the newcomers here.

Today basically mark your first step towards future. University life is somewhat different. No one aint gonna tell you what you suppose to do and what not anymore. Play hard, but work even harder too!

Welcome to MMU and hope you all gain something worthwhile here!

Nah, it is better not compare the activities between cyber and melaka. Look at it this way, perhaps you gained more.

i just finish my study, dip in technology majoring in telecommunication engineering in MMC. so im planning to continue to degree, same course of cos.. i browse thru MMU's website and it says degree is 4 yrs. =.= is that for real?? 4yrs?

and another thing is that, before i enroll in MMC last time. i didnt meet 1 of the requirement. so, i will not get my dip cert n they'll only give me my transcript. so how? can i still go to MMU for my degree? and is that weird if i only have my degree cert, no dip cert?
*
Yes, the normal degree course is 4 years but could be shorten if you do some credit transfer, assuming certain subject meet the critreria.
No, it is not weird to have degree without diploma cert.
As to whether MMU accept the transcipt wiithout cert, you need to ask from admission.

erm u mean the course registration??? i dint get what u mean..sorry....=p

If you register late, popular slots might be full and you have to select others. If it is a small session with only one slot, then no problem. Bear in mind, course registration closes after week 2 (disclaimer: need further confirmation on this timeline).
