Is there iron in MMU hostel or should we bring ourself so that we could iron our own shirt. Cyberjaya btw tongue.gif
*
There are irons in MMU Cyberjaya hostel, which you won't need it. Remember, during class you're NOT needed to wear formal. Unless you want to iron your T-Shirt, then you'll need an iron which is available at the Wing B 5th floor of each Block.

QUOTE(eidur @ May 21 2010, 12:25 AM)
adoi I never send for laundry before, how it works ah? Underwear oso can send?
*
There are 2 different laundry service in MMU Cyberjaya Hostel
1- U send anything inside a plastic bag, collect it around 1 days later, pay around RM2/kg (Available at Hostel Block (HB) ONE)
2- Wash whatever you want yourself using the washing machine, not sure how much does it cost but its a pay per use. Even if you put in 100kg inside the machine oso can as long as it fit. (Available at HB FOUR)

3- Wash on your own using hand laugh.gif

hmm what about hot water? got kettles?
*
For Cyberjaya Campus, there are water dispenser in the pantry which you can get cold and hot water.
Just don't expect much about Cyberjaya's hostel. It kinda sucks, not sure about Melaka.

Benefits to stay hostel @Cyberjaya:
- a bit cheaper
- a bit closer
- much faster internet
- nothing else

QUOTE(make87 @ May 21 2010, 03:52 PM)
I think the question about how is the internet speed are not meant the LAN speed . . . . .

Let me answer you this question if I may ^^

REALLY FAST SPEED at weekend and Friday after the noon session, besides that, well ..... depend on luck , might even worse than dial-up sometimes . . .
But for those who like BT-ing .... there are no worry about it because we got INTRANET which provide GOOD quality of latest games/movie/software etc in cybertracker ^^
*
I didn't meant the LAN speed.. Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc can reach UPTO 8MB/s during application based QoS with less people around campus.
If campus is full then the speed should be around 1-2 MB/s
During user based QoS downloading should be around 200-500kB/s (again, depend on how many people are around campus)

Thanks biggrin.gif

But this has made me wonder about another thing.. what's actually in the pantry room?
*
A water dispenser, 2 sinks, a dustbin and electric sockets (not sure how many) laugh.gif
Sucks isn't it?
Sometimes I wonder, why the hell I stay hostel. Then I remember, oh its cheaper n where else can I download stuff from internet at 2MB/s. icon_rolleyes.gif

If you're a person who at home, always sit in front of your PC playing games and the only reason not to is because your parent scold you not to... then if you enter MMU and stay hostel, you'll probably sit in front of your PC 20 hours a day playing games...
or even watching TV Series, Movies, etc.
Believe me, there are too many entertainment in your room that you might even forget to go eat. tongue.gif

Pray that you have a nice room-mate, borrow her laptop and check for announcement, etc everytime before you go to class.
Coz all announcement are made through MMLS (multimedia learning system) which you'll know more during orientation.

Remember, almost 90% are digital.

For Cyberjaya campus, its a double decker and a single bed. 2 wardrobes and a long desk which is suppose for 2 person.

Here is how it is suppose to work:
The one grabbing the single bed get the wardrobe but not the desk. Those who get the double decker have to share wardrobe but get the desk.
But you can always work things out, sharing is caring.

In terms of space, the rooms are suppose to be 2 person yet due to high demand they make it a 3 person. So its a bit small but I've live 2 years in that small room, yet I'm still alive.

The toilets, depends on your luck. Some people are just stupid, they don't know how to keep it clean. MMU is to be blame too for not really keeping the toilet in a good shape as some toilets really needs to be repair.

Yet, its Cyberjaya and the cost of living is a bit high especially to those who come from Kampung. Renting an apartment in Cyberia could cost you more than RM1000/month. If you're lucky you can rent a room for 200-300/month. Still, need to pay for utilities bill.

If you stay hostel, you can bath for 1 hour without bothering about the water bills. You can turn on your PC for 24/7 without bothering about the electricity bill.

Its your choice, both hostel and living outside has its pros and cons.

MMU don't even have fences, so basicly you can go in and out 24/7..
If you get in by car after midnight, the guard might ask you to show them your Student Card.

QUOTE(kayexem @ May 23 2010, 08:14 PM)
ok then. haha..
cos i was wondering how the hell i'm gonna make full use of cybertracker if i don have a laptop and i don stay in hostel O.O
haha

anyway, just to share some info i found out about the cybertracker
the cybertracker is not exactly for "free"
initially u get to download 10GB for free
then after that, the subsequent amount u wanna download depends on the amount u upload.
so basically u have to upload first before downloading.. =)
stock up on movies + game ISOs before coming. hahahaha
*
Don't forget to say hello to me once you see me in CyberTracker. icon_rolleyes.gif
Its call ratio, you don't need to upload anything to maintain your ratio. Its a torrent based, so if you seed (leaving your Torrent client on so others can download the file from you) its counted as upload too.
Download 1GB, Seed 1GB and your ratio will maintain at 1.00
You'll only not allow to download when your ratio is at 0.2 (which is super easy to maintain even if you're seeding from Labs)

If you're a hot girl who are willing to go for a date with me, don't bother about your ratio. I can make it 100.00 just for you. wub.gif

I'm assuming you're a guy, would you go for a date with me? shocking.gif Its not gender discrimination, its just I don't date guys. laugh.gif

QUOTE(ChrisTan92 @ May 24 2010, 12:54 AM)
Kinda agree with you...

Btw, where can i get to download the cyber tracker software? Can't seem to find it in MMU search
*
CyberTracker is a website (intranet) and it is NOT part of MMU Cyberjaya. It is being handled and maintained all by students thus you won't find it in MMU website.
You won't be able to access it until we (degree students) come back to campus which is around June 6th.

We should stop talking about CyberTracker as this is educational essential thread. sweat.gif

smoke till every1 of ur housemates die of lung cancer within a year also can.. no problem..
but as an ex ixora tenant i hated that my housemates smoke in the living room.
saman guys with long hair? i've seen ppl hair as long as girls there!
please la.. not secondary school anymore. but sometimes they sound local girls wearing short pants into campus but allow international students going Man U (give half ball"s").
*
Actually, there is one time a guy in FIT got saman due to long hair. It was an unlucky day for him as he was there when the security suddenly become "rajin". But the probability that you will is 1 in 1,000,000 biggrin.gif

But as you said, its no more secondary school. I've seen my classmate in a GREEN hair, just like what you may see in Anime. Lecturers just make fun of him for a few times but no saman at all.

Yea, but this is a 1Malaysia country. They won't do that for sure.

I got friends who live with other races during their very first semester in MMU. But the basic idea is one room will have the same race as its more convenient that way. The next semester, you want to change your roomate so all chinese, malay, india, kadazan, dayak, penan and others are all together within the same room, its up to you.

I don't have any authorities to tell u what to wear but i guess you should wear something you and others are comfortable with.

I guess what casual means is smart casual (A slack, shoe and a collar T)
not the casual which you wear to go dating or shopping.

if i bring a switch, does it mean i need to use an extension also, it's wrong to use multiple appliances on 1 point right? how often do they check?
*
Extension (the one which is connected through a wire) is okay to be use, imagine we all use desktop, how to supply power to both CPU n Monitor? Not to mention speaker and printer biggrin.gif
But the three way extension (the box shaped one with no wire) are not allowed (i guess). My friend's got taken by the hostel people.

6 more days for seniors to enjoy their holiday and for juniors to be prepared.. laugh.gif

Why does cyber hostel don't have wifi... i have to get a maxis broadband at this point.
*
There is a network plug in each room, use your own Wireless Router if you want WiFi. There is WiFi access at cafeteria, library and in all faculty and its FREE unlike your maxis broadband.
