lol.. yea but they post it on their 1st lecture slides and what policies do you need to know? been there done that so many times u get used to it. and lecturers would cancel 1st week of class all the time. whats the point of leaving home early for 1 or 2 hours of class that week?

I think only a small majority of the lecturers cancel their 1st week class. As far as the timetable is concern, 1st week is a valid lecture week and lessons will begin. Apart from missing the crucial policy, usually the lessons are important for basic background. I guess that is why many students who skipped the classes have problem understanding the subject later on as the class progresses. Also that is why many students claimed they never know on the subject policy. So it is either you wanna advice the new students positively or the other way round ;-)

Call them. I'm sure can because by the time you finished up those documents and send it back, it's way past registration day. And if on registration day, they didn't receive what they want, perhaps they'll just give another one to you to fill in

well i dun find any problems couping with lectures even after skipping the 1st class.. and maybe ur from cyber or different faculty cos here for long sems the 1st class is always canceled last minute. if not it just goes for 15-30min and go back.. "thats all for today"..

not that i want to teach them something bad but its a fact that they will learn sooner or later. i am just telling them earlier.

p/s: i am not from SRC so my advise might be a little orthodox.. but i still support some of their activities.

Okay, I just receive little info.

Bringing Notebook is necessary because they'll teach us how to check our timetables and schedule since Gavin said, everything will be done through internet.

But for those who don't feel like bringing, it's fine as well.

No, I am in Melaka campus, FET. While I don't deny there are lecture classes being cancelled last minute, it is not right to generalize them all. What if the new students skipped the first week and there is actually something important being disseminated or being taught for that particular subject? Let's not make this a culture among MMU students smile.gif

Good info, but I hope the new students wil not panic if they dont have any laptops (they seemed so worried about the dress code already tongue.gif ). You can always share with your group members with laptops. If the briefing is done in lecture complexes, I am sure they will show how to check these stuffs using the projector for the benefit of everyone, no?

I don't have any authorities to tell u what to wear but i guess you should wear something you and others are comfortable with.

I guess what casual means is smart casual (A slack, shoe and a collar T)
not the casual which you wear to go dating or shopping.

jobneed: No, this Sunday is not only for hostel registration. It's for courses registration(every freshie) + hostel(those who applied). You can wear casual during registration but I also heard afternoon briefing is formal. So better be, formal from morning till noon. No need to change.

orangecow: Check back your offer letter. Don't be a lazy cow because I myself also need to check back. Stay on that day onwards. According Gavin, we'll get our keys as soon as we finished registration.

LOREAL: If you are not staying there, why not wear formal clothes from morning. Sandals is consider formal wearing is you understand what formal wearing means.

AMiRU: Even I go out dating/shopping, my dress code is consider formal. Do you not realize, nowadays girls are wearing formally but they don't realize it.

deric88: Depends but I think most people will be busy with their parents and hostels. If wanna do meet up, another time or dinner time. I'm sure most parents left at that time.

By the way, I'm also a freshie from Foundation in IT. Moving in this Sunday. Hopefully to meet all of you there as well.
