like Kyo mentioned, if very subjective what is the "MUST HAVE GAMES" for wii.

My personal choice:
01) Wii Sports Resorts – excellent party games, all my guests will leave home thinking when is the next gathering at my place.
02) Tetris Party (Wii ware) – solo/multiplayer/online (my fav!!!)
03) Super Mario Bros. Wii – solo/multiplayer - it's chaotic fun in 4P mode!
04) Mario Kart Wii – – solo/multiplayer/online.
05) Zelda: Twilight Princess – solo, if you are familiar with Zelda series.
06) No More Heroes – hack and slash, with witty dark humour (lotsa blood!!!)
07) Metroid Prime Trilogy – a god sent gift for Metroid Fan!!!

no... there isn't any free games available in Wii Channel. But you can download DEMOs for the DS.

You can surft the net, by downloading Opera Browser via the Wii Channel, and it's free. Do take note, this version isn't as extensive as the PC, therefore, it doesn't support advance scripting site/flash.

Glad you owned a unmodded US wii, as that'll be hassle free.

wii games can be quite expensive !! especially mario games , no changes in the price !
but i saw lots of games with discounted price in amazon
guitar hero smash hits = $19.90
guitar hero 5 = $16.54
guitar hero aerosmith = $11.15 !!!!!!

but all the mario games at least $45++
