Thinking of getting a Wildfire but I'm not too sure on the performance of the camera. From reviews, it seems that the photos fro the Wildfire always has a pinkish tinge, colour rendition is off and not very sharp.

Any opinions from the users here so far?

PM her..lowest price in LYN.. rclxms.gif
red...no white color.. sad.gif

Woah..I bought from the same dealer too. Dunno if her price is the lowest, but I trust her more.

No white Wildfire here yet. Just buy a black or red one and put it in a white case. Should look pretty good.

Just something of note, I checked with Maxis whether they have the Wildfire on promotion (RM699 + 1 year contract) and their answer was," We have not had any news regarding this from the management." Darn it!

bad_heroes86, you waiting for yours via post as well?

I don't think it has any significant short term effects...dunno about long term effects since most ppl change phones quite regularly.

I'm using Matt screen protector and it did not reduce the touch screen sensitivity..BTW capdase soft jacket for wildfire out..back n white available..

I'm assuming that you're using the matte SP from Epikcase? Does it affect the screen's brightness and visibility?

I just heard from a HTC distributor that Froyo will NOT be available officially for the Wildfire. According to him, it will only be launched for models with a minimum 1GHz CPU.

Anyone can confirm this? Cos it will be real shame if the Wildfire is capped at Android 2.1.

He's the official distributor / seller for HTC in Kuching. They just opened up recently and it appears that the Wildifre is also selling here like hot cakes. Basically sold out their entire stock on Saturday....stocks only arrived last week!

Then that's a relief!

Anyone here had any luck finding cases for their Wildfire? Seems like there aren't many out there yet.

I think that was for rumored 3.0 (Gingerbread). It's just speculation with no known source.

That's what I thought. But forgot to mention that to him.

On a different note, having a store specialising in smartphones in Kuching is a real boon since I can't remember any such store here. Previously, if your non-Symbian smartphone went south...well...good luck! Now at least there's some support here as the store owner is willing to help out with any software issues. They are also in talks to get a technician posted here for hardware support.

Heck, if I don't get any news of my Wildfire soon, I'll probably go buy from this store instead since they have stock coming in later today. Slightly more pricey but can get software FOC. Another thing of note, other than the Wildfire, the next most popular-selling Android phones are the Desire and Samsung Galaxy S. I think the Wildfire is kinda killing the mid-range market for Android phones.

Anyone here know anything about a shortage of Wildfires from SIS? Been waiting for mine for a week now. But it seems Maxis has plenty of stock.

Already paid to a seller here since last week. Sigh...if get from Maxis, maybe should just get a Desire instead with the data package. Dunno if 500mb a month enough or not.

Really struggling between the Wildfire and Desire now...which one to get? The price difference is double...but then, so are the specs. Don't know whether I'll regret later if I pick up the Wildfire over the Desire.

I'm not a modder nor am I very tech-savvy...mainly for calls, sms, web-browsing, Facebook, some GPS although I don't really require voice navigation...yet. I do prefer a decent camera and video-taking capability. Should be very handy and easy to bring about so the Galaxy S is out of the question.

Added on August 19, 2010, 4:48 pmNot really into gaming...but should be able to play games particularly for my kids...useful distraction tool!

Hmm....maybe I should stick to Wildfire...if need good camera, got my DSLR, GPS...well...my colleagues think I'm a living GPS device, wahaha.

Prefer the smaller size of the Wildfire too...dimensions-wise, it might not seem like much, but quite a difference when you're actually handling it.

My main gripe is with the screen's resolution. At first glance, still look ok, but once you start using it, then you notice the pixelation....irritating. But compared to normal phone screen, still looks pretty good. My mistake was holding it next to a Samsung Galaxy S...

Finally got my Wildfire! Any ideas on the initial charging period? Some sources say that the old 8-hr charge rule no longer applies but the seller still insist that I do so to prime the battery.

Anyone here have an epikcase on the Wildfire? Thinking of either this or the more expensive Case-Mate Barely There. I had one Epikcase case for my old Nokia E71 and it really didn't fit very well. Could barely access the USB port and switches. Yet some people have reported that theirs fit perfectly.

Anyone?

No problems with my Wildfire so far. Sure, it lags for a second or 2 sometimes...but I've yet to come across a smartphone that never lags once. Screen is fine if you don't put it next to a Galaxy S or Desire. Coming from normal feature phones, I don't really feel that I'm missing out on screen quality.

As for games...err...no time for them so it doesn't really matter. If you have a lot of photos then the phone will take some time to load them all...just a couple of seconds.
