Hi everyone! I am another proud new owner of a HTC Wildfire. Just got my set today at Maxis Centre @ Sunway Pyramid.
I have been searching around for this phone in Digital Mall, Subang Parade and Shah Alam Plaza to no avail. PDA Expert Mobility also no stock, even for HTC Desire (probably the holiday season). Finally, found it in Maxis Centre. Red version finished yesterday. Bought the black version (left 3 stock, 12PM), which looks very sleek. Haven't tried the phone yet, still charging and conditioning the battery. Will be using this with DiGi's rate plan later. Maxis service very long waiting period, I see the reason for the San Francisco Coffee outlet in there. The guy wasn't very interested to engage customers, I couldn't care less since I just wanted the phone w/o a plan. He said that right now HTC Wildfire is on a limited basis to test the market. (Easter Egg : Regarding iPhone 4 release, probably in October)
Want to thank all of the posters here to give me a well informed decision over this phone. Had wanted the HTC Desire for months, no promotion, new job tak jadi, then AMOLED global shortage, and etc. Realised that Wildfire was a really good budget phone that I wouldn't worry too much being lost or stolen. It fits well in my hand and pocket. Does everything I need: email, surfing, social networking, ipod movies, music. Not really into gaming so this fit the bill very comfortably. Also the other reason is if I were to use it in USA (AT&T/T-Mobile USA), I wouldn't lose out so much being a 3G phone on EDGE.
Have a great day people! Happy post-Merdeka.

QUOTE(cheehing @ Sep 1 2010, 03:53 PM) any idea where to get the wildfire screen protector ?? I got a really nice screen protector at the Digital Mall section on the top floor of Sunway Pyramid. I didn't get the name however, but it was the first few shops that sold HTC phones upon entering the left entrance. Had a lot of trouble applying it (noob) tho. EDIT: whoops! you're not in Klang Valley are you? This post has been edited by asean1984: Sep 1 2010, 07:32 PM

Anyone can recommend a video player? Tried rockplayer (Arm7) but it won't play as it keeps notifying it is unactivated. The Arm6 version works fine but audio out of sync and slight lag for ipod-sized avi's and the usual 700mb files. Ugh. Also could you share what video encoders you are using?

QUOTE(mojo_jojo @ Sep 2 2010, 12:53 PM) Tried that and a host of other players, doesn't detect the video due to format type. Perhaps I need to reconvert it. Hmm... will take any suggestions.

Just to update regarding watching video on the phone - I found that "Handbrake" seems to be suitable to convert .avi to .mp4, they don't have batch folder conversion, but you can queue them easily. It will play fine. Need to adjust the dimensions to 320x240 though and set target file size. I wished there was a better video app, too bad CorePlayer devs are holding out at the moment.

3G Connectivity Issue
The Wildfire is a great and amazing budget phone. Using it when I am on the move. However, I have never been able to get 3G signal on DiGi. Called their service reps numerous times and such. Anyone else having this issue with their 3G connectivity? (DiGi users only, Maxis please ignore).
