i try out the wildfire at htc roadshow midvalley just now.

i can confirm the phone in messaging is for me, lag, but its not the keyboard that is lag, the display of the msg that is lag, i type as fast as a heavy texter can (which i am one) and i notice that the display couldnt catch up to what i am writing, but the gap is not long, about 2 or 1.5 second only.

and the phone also turn not responding for a moment when my gf want to try it out, the staff also like "eh.. wait2" *tap2* for a moment then all ok.
*
got vibration when you typed? the lag could be due to the haptic feedback..

Any more reviews from those who bought ?
So far from the internet reviews, it seem like :-

Pros
1. Value for money
2. Features of HTC Desire/Legend
3. Looks good
4. 5MP Camera with LED Flash
5. Great GPS

Cons
1. 1 day battery life
2. Display 240x320 does not support some apps
3. Screen TFT
4. Slight lag
5. Pic quality - not that great esp for outdoors.

Also would like to know what are the competing Android product from other brands ?

yupe. it is 5mp. Same as me. The guy at PDA Expert told me 3.2mp. But when check the spec on the box, it is 5mp. The 3.2 is display size.

Hmm.....i saw some review on internet about the poor camera on wildfire.

It says the pic quality isn't that bad, it just bcoz we snap it and view it under the TFT low resolution screen. That's why we think the pic sucks.

If u transfer the pic and view it using pc, the quality is just like normal 5Mp pic.

Can anyone confirm this?

Hi xproc,

For me, it really value for money. Currently I own Omnia II. Wildfire is faster. It must because of Android. However there are lags here and there but not up to annoying level like WinMo. It still good for normal use.

Display is good enough for normal use. Camera also good. The picture look a bit blur on phone display, but look great when transferred to pc.  All the apps is same as other Androids.

The email and friend stream really nice. Installed brut google navigation, it follow my car almost instantaneous. Much much better than Garmin Mobile XT on my Omnia II.

Battery live almost 1 day. Browsing internet through wifi for few hours. Automatic sync facebook and email every hour. And GPS navigation (+ data since I am testing brut google navigation) about 2 hours.

Didn't try any games since this phone is for my wife. Plus I didn't expect it to run high end games. For that I will get Samsung Galaxy S/ Bigger screen and faster GPU. Cannot wait this Saturday to collect my SGS  drool.gif

If you're choosing a Maxis plan, I see no reason why you want to get this phone for RM100 difference.

Nevertheless, I feel this is a great entry level Android.

in actual fact it is not that obvious... i just have a touch on both desire and wildfire... both also nice but the wildfire downside would be the application support side... asked the sale they said some of the software for desire and legend might not be able to fill up the screens...
