Was in Music Valley (I think) yesterday and noticed that they actually had a healthy quantity of BDs.

Most Disney BDs were priced at RM99.90 and u r entitled for 10% discount. All were single discs. That brings 1 BD to almost RM90. Decent for Disney titles. The odd thing was all had HVN logo (distributed by). I wonder where they are pressed? Anyone tried any of the HVN Disney titles? Any complaints?

Then on another rack, there were a lot of BDs with "Tulen , KHDN holograms". The price was RM49.90. On the BDs was also written BD25G. All had slipcover. SA told me that these were China BDs. Not sure what she meant, but RM50! Anyone tried this?
*
Ah, now i realize something.

There was a seller who created a sales thread in Games section sometime ago stating BD25GB and original. But the covers he displayed were not similar to the original ones [compared with US].
So, basically this is genuine..the price were around RM45 something..

I'll check this out and probably buy one and test and write my opinion here soon.

Question,

I've been monitoring at certain places and found that pirated BD's are now available everywhere. Does it makes an impact on genuine BD buyers , to turn around for pirated BD's instead ...as they are available for cheap rate.?

If this is the case, how could video shops like SV, EV gonna survive with the availability of pirated BD's ? I suppose , LYN forum members still believes on the genuine items despite this "disease".

Btw, not to mention where i've seen this been sold, i assume everyone must have guessed it by now ..where they are from..

SV, EV will still survive regardless pirated is there or not..
look on the DVD era...pirated is the mainstream but SV, EV still there...not yet bankrupt..
*
True, i believe they did survive..but my actual concern is not SV / EV. My utmost concern is the consumers like us and the rest out there who opt for the available pirated BD's instead the genuine ones.
The demand for BD piracy could lead to another disaster, but im sure the authority is having an eye on this , are they.. blink.gif

Whether EV,SV makes profits or closes down business is not the concern here. As many of us here buy / sell from and to each other. Obviously this gonna continue for a long years but wat about those buyers out there who doesn't seem to realize that LYN is the safest place to buy [despite & minus the scams of course]..

I've been there, done that.... wif dvds! No way I'm putting that in my bluray player. I guess in the long run, the oris are the best bet, despite of the premium pricing. But most will disagree though... thankfully not in LYN here though  nod.gif
*
I had to raise the question of piracy of BD cause i've be receiving some anonymous emails & messages on availability of pirated BD's. DVD's definitely out of the picture at the moment , although i do keep my original dvds now which i have purchased during the time.

The pirated BD's seems to resemble the original , and competitively.. the price too seems to come along in the battle. Yep, thankfully in LYN this doesn't seem to be the case.

Although pirated DVD's are still in demand, pirated BD's seem to be moving into the picture slowly with the demand from the consumers. This definitely has to end soon !

Dun forget, besides competing against the black market, video retailers also have to compete with the grey markets ...   wink.gif

But i guess they have themselves to blame, during the DVD era, their DVD quality is, err..  worse than pasar malam's, and the really good quality ones are over-priced imports.  Same with BDs, again, either overpriced or inferior quality.  Think of it, u think people here like to sweat everyday hoping for their Amazon parcels to come in one piece if they can get similiar products round the corner?
*
If they do realize that similar products / item is available through the proper channel [ie actual video shops].
The over pricing of BD's seems to pushing away genuine buyers to turn around and look for black market items ie pirated disc.

As fadthil mentioned, we all here still on the right track despite the disease out there..for how long more.. hmm.gif

BDs got pirated already? i saw one a while back and 'tested' one... but dat one seems they burn the movie in a double layer DVD only...
but thanks to PS3... now im beginning to find my way in the oris track... no more piracy for me... eventhough the price a bit killing my pocket... but it worth it... smile.gif

one off topic questions...
how do we know if the DVDs is region free or not? i'm thinking of buying some TV series DVD from amazon... but US DVD region is different from ours rite?
*
Blu-ray piracy started sometime ago despite that we still have loads of genuine consumers , buyers getting the right products accordingly. I dont think you're quite right there, as you will not be able to duplicate blu-ray master to DVD9 unless they are compressing the blu-ray files into DVD format and produce DVD instead pirated BD [correct me if im wrong].

I bought one before for fun, they seem to use BDRW to have the similar copy of from the master. The cover art seems to resemble as well. They are sold at cheap rate [half the price offered for ori's in LYN].

If you need help on DVD Regions check this : Amazon.co.uk Help : DVD Regions

I don't think the pirated one are the same as original. AFAIK most of the pirated BD out there is all single layer (25GB), and for single layer disc they're selling at what price? RM35?

I heard the pirated dual layer BD50 BD is selling around RM50. I'm not sure maybe someone can verify. Those who think that version is worth the money must be out of his mind. Topup a bit I can get an original BD, perhaps with more disc (bonus feature, dvd copy, digital copy a.k.a coaster etc)

Unless we're talking about selling at RM10 per BD, then I can see people actually getting it.
*
Apparently the originals are not similar to pirated but somehow rather they are. Yep, they are stuffed in 25GB disc and price is around RM3x. There was a sales topic opened sometime ago in LYN, some guys spotted it and reported the 25gb "not DVD9" thread.

Dual layer 50GB cost around rm4x [the one i came across]. Well, how many would go for RM70 w special features , DVD copy, digital copy etc ? and how many would just buy the pirated BD for a sake of the movie itself minus the special features and others goodies..? Well ratio could be higher on those getting from black market bro..

Not that i've seen one RM10 BD yet..could soon be landed to black market i suppose..

Maybe i need to get into the mind of a peasant to understand that pirated BD is actually worth getting. If really want to save the few bucks, might as well get a mkv player and download mkv F.O.C.
rclxub.gif

Not for me certainly and some of us. As you have mentioned, add few bucks and get the better , proper copy of BD. And..I'll stick to that for now.
Is there a way to stop BD piracy from being spread again in this country for this particular BD format? Unfortunately , there's no way i suppose

Guess , we have to live with it for time being until "someone" spots it..
