Hi Everyone,

Let me know if i have posted at the wrong thread. A quick advice.
Is it better for me to get my AV products from stores such as big franchise (Best Denki, Harvey Norman) or smaller local companies (HLK, Jintex, Onking) in terms of pricing?

Pleae advise.

Traditional Retailers sometimes can offer much better price than those chain stores.
Worked in a local chain retailer before so more or less will know their pricing strategies.

Go browse few stores and you'll know. wink.gif

yeah... most of the local stores can give u better price if u nego kau-kau
most of the time it's unbeatable cheapest price you can get out there

those big chain stores like best denki usually will tell u it's fixed price or will just give u minimal discount since their price is usually hiked up a lot

avoid those SenQ, OnKing retail store as well... they are similar too in their pricing strategy

It really depends, on what your needs are, and depth of your wallet.
I bough my LCD panel from Harvey Norman cos I know these things have a standard lifespan and I need the 5 yr all inclusive warranty.

Need to shop around...somethings are cheaper here and there...example I bought a Panny 360 Iron for RM150 at Jusco...outside small shops selling it for RM200.

But for convince sake is also important, so you need to shop a few places to find the best deal incl. warranty and a better quality installation....and doesn't mean that guy is your friend he is going to give you a best discounts...sometimes friend - friend charge more and install for you using 2nd stuff like conduit, wiring, sockets etc... blush.gif

well i had survery some shops and online purchase b4 i bought my Sharp LC32A66M... they offer a good deal last weekend at Harvey, but unfortunately i could not get a similar ones outside... i plan to go to SS2 for a survey, coz it has a few big LCD Store there but unfortunately it is too late on Saturday already... so far no one match the offer that i get from Harvey, i also had asked SenQ, Onking and a few garage sales also but unfortunately their offer is not as low as Harvey...
the trouble is u need to survey a few shops but don go beyond 20km radius from ur house cos i also waste time and petrol also to travel.... that is my advice cheers...

thanks for the info. All this while, my perception is HLK, Onking, Senheng stores are considered small local companies. But from the explanation above, they are still classified as chain stalls.

Any suggestion on small local stores?I hardly see them. Is Jintex one of them?

well its hard to tell...by right bigger chain can order n keep larger amount of stock..hence they get those products at cheaper price and sell it cheaper as well.. nowadays u just gotta be smart and look around a lot to find the best deal..usually i look for products which they wanna clear off or some of the smaller shop just in need of money then they sell u cheaper.. btw cheaper price doesnt necessary means the best.. do ask bout for more details..no point getting it cheap but with less warranty or a some come with a lot of hidden cost (installation etc)
