you may see some improvement but not in gaming ...about temperature drop is very unlikely can also depend on the type of cooler you use or air flow

if ur asking me, imho its not worth it at this moment .
Q6600 is still kicking on current games . d only problem i can see is bottlenecking the graphic card . present graphic card is too much to be handled by Q6600 . unless u could go for 4.4ghz perhaps >.<" doubt u would do that for daily usage ^^, so my vote goes to NO NO ! just my 2 cents . |

TS..that is a great leap..go for it..but depends on usage..if like me surf internet and assignments, just stick with old system |

I don't see anything wrong with the Phenom X6 and I don't quite understand how a newer technology CPU like the X6 can be worse than a Q6600 which is made with an older fabrication process and so hot

well, for gaming not many utilizing multiple core .
but for future proof, i still dont think its good . they're going to produce better proc sooner or later . Q6600 is quaddie . y not wait for better tech x6 later on . probably another half year or so . |

get a i5 750 if you are into gaming. the price is quite similar. if you do alot stuff like encoding/rendering/multitask then go for phenom x6. both these proc wont let u down either. i using i5 750 and it kickass in gaming. decide yourself

Do you use your computer in Air-conditioned room? That will help the temperature a bit.
If you are getting rid of your old CPU, send it to me This post has been edited by bobbobagan: May 25 2010, 01:05 AM |

Why do you want to change to another platform for a 20% improvement? Buy a QX9650 lar it is almost the same as the PhenomII X6 1055...

oem QX9650 without fan , box , warranty , sticker is Rm9xx .....AMD PhenomII X6 1055 Retail got 3 year warranty , box , fan , sticker and only RM6xx
In multitasking and those heavy 3d stuff...AMD 6 core is better becasue most 3d software are now utilize all 6 core. But in gaming QX better la...becasue i can go to 4Ghz or 4.2ghz just a blink of eye changing the multipiler only |

Processor hardly give you problem if you run it at stock clock. TS's Q6600 fan compatible so no fan change needed. Both QX9650 and x6 1055 runs under 45nm Manufacturing Process so it is better energy efficiency against Q6600.In multitasking and those heavy 3d stuff...AMD 6 core is better becasue most 3d software are now utilize all 6 core.
