i prefer FRP, good finishing surface, & decent flexibility.
PU absorb impact, but finishing is poorest among abs, CF, FRP. it doesnt chipped off like CF but it will lose a big chunk of the PU if u hit something in high speed, not repairable compare to fiber. FRP is used on the Satria Neo Lotus Racing edition and they say it reduced weight so I think it should be good.
Btw, yamato, Can you mind to explain what is mean by finiishing? You mean the details? You mean PU bodykit are most ugly and not like the original? |

finishing means the detail after painted.
1) painted PU has small bubble holes all over it. it is not a certain result but most PU BK has such problem, size of the holes are like 0.5-2mm. 2) surface smoothness is poor coz the foam tends to have rough & uneven surface. if u put it under a series of parallel florescence lighting as those in detailing/polishing shop, u will notice the the BK surface is actually uneven at an unacceptable degree, atleast to me. generally FRP is better than PU, but depends on the application.
PU might be slightly cheaper. still both are dirt cheap as u can afford a brand new livina =) |

I came across a shop in Sri Damansara selling FRP for Saga BLM (I'm getting my M-Line next week
4 side skirts + spoiler = RM1,580.00 (+ installation & paint job). Anyone can recommend good garage with reasonable price for FRP/PU nearby Puchong area? Thanks.. |

FRP wont break easilly after get hit, i will just bend inwards.
Just need to use hot air blower to reshape and repair it. Imagine the ping pong ball. Fiber, if hit something will crack, and difficult to repair. This post has been edited by yehlai: Nov 14 2010, 04:27 PM |

FRP can repair with hot air? wow dunno that FIBER REINFORCE PLASTIC could be that easily repaired must try at my Gen2 MME bumper then Just need to use hot air blower to reshape and repair it. Imagine the ping pong ball. Fiber, if hit something will crack, and difficult to repair. FRP is fiber la bro...not that easily repaired but also will not easily break...original bodykits from R3 all using FRP which can be bend...they can even twist the sirting 180degrees without breaking it...BUT once broken then headache la...not easily repaired as a normal fiber... |
