Can I tether the ipad with my Blackberry Bold 9700? I use my Bold as modem on my celcom unlimited to tether to my MBP. If can, then no need to buy the 3G, just get the wifi ipad.

Dear All,

Getting my ipad 3G wifi soon. Need to know. Am already on BIS plan with Unlimited 3G on Celcom. Can I get an additional sim card using the same number (multi sim) for use with my ipad or MIFI or whateva? I went to a Celcom store just now and they say it is not possible, need to get another number, what the heck? Or can this be done at Maxis or Digi. If so, Celcom gonna lose me..........

Tink,

I was at a Celcom outlet earlier today, and they said it cannot be done, no multisim (attached to 1 number only) for fear of cloning. I just want to know, those with ipads already, are they using multisim (one line) for their ipad as well as iphone or BB (as in my case) rather than a separate unlimited 3G line, which I think is costly and not right, should be able to piggy back on our unlimited 3G line.

@MattJ,
Maxis's Multi-SIM apparently means U get another SIM with the same number but U will still need to subscribe to the data (source: beavis68)

If U have an existing USB broadband modem, take the SIM out from that and put it into ur iPad.  If Ur trying to save $ and use the one you're using on ur iPhone, then U won't b able to receive calls sad.gif

Tink,

So basically it can be done with Maxis, i.e. get another sim for same number but use for data only (maybe subscribe at additional $ as what happened in Singapore with Singtel and Starhub). Why Celcom cannot do the same? This is what I'm asking for, since I already have my Unlimited 3G with them. If this is the case, might as well use my Maxis line (prepaid with free data taken with Iphone 3Gs) for use with my ipad, just need to cut it into microsim. If this does not work, what the heck, will get Digi or port either my Celcom or Maxis number to Digi. Why these telcos make my life so difficult.......... rclxub.gif

Bad news is that we can't order from Singapore online store to ship to a Malaysian address and use a M'sian CC. There goes my dream up in flames haha...

Wanna know, which telco is better in terms of rates, speed , coverage for broadband unlimited 3G for your ipad
Digi = RM58 monthly
Celcom = RM48 monthly (384mbps)
Maxis = ????
I wanna merge my celcom voice/bis/3G plan with above new broadband so that it is covered under my corporate package but not possible. Need new account, Dang.
Or another option is to go prepaid either Digi (Rm2 daily) or Celcom($ not sure how much), not sure about speed for this.
For all you ipad 3G users out there, pls share2 your experience. Thanks

Deal extremes orders can get lost sometimes. Try LYN Garage sales, a bit more but better.
