Hi all i need help, i ordered 2 jerseys from kitbag.com at the price of 92.92 pounds on 25th of July ( RM5 - 1 Pound ) including postage. To my horror, ups issued me a bill requesting RM262 for custom duties.

What should i do ? I thought i was not taxable for items under RM500 ?

u must pay, if u not pay it u will not receive u item...4ever...next time, buy item below rm400 & do not buy 2 jersey in 1 order(from my experience) using UPS(xpress shipping)...bad luck bro.... yawn.gif

Customs are not stupid lo, they tax the item based on value and selling price in malaysia ,not based on how much u buy in the UK and shipped over ... if 1 jersey cost RM 259 in Malaysia then 2 already more than RM 500... sure will get held by the customs... better pay or ur item will be stuck at the customs. ^^  Good luck

sleep.gif Whats the point of buying from oversea's then ?

it still depends on their calculation.. u can get 2-3 jerseys in a go and just make it less than RM400 then should be ok.. there were once i got 3 McLaren Caps (F1) which the custom held it but after their calculation, it is still less than RM500 thus they release as they stated at the custom clearance form, so for lazarus7247 case, after "their" currency exchange rate, you item is more than RM500 thus they tax u

92.92 X5 = RM464.60 .. to be over 500 they would have to charge 5.4 -> 1 ???????!

Hi i paid on 25th of july so they use the currency exchange rate then.

UPDATE : I just called them this morning and GUESS WHAT DID THEY TELL ME !

"Im sorry sir but fabric get taxed regardless of price. If you do not want to pay the tax you will not get the item you ordered. If you would like to see the custom officer, come back on monday."

WTF !!?!?!?!

Anybody experienced this before ?!

you need to ask a better customer service agent.
that agent clearly doesnt know what he/she is talking about

92.92gbp + 12gbp for express shipping is already over 100gbp x 5 = <rm500 rite?

Err its 80.92 GBP + 12 GBP = 92.92 ... Total RM464.60 .. Thats @ 5. Even at 5.2 its 483.18 STILL below 500.

But what she told me is all fabrics will be charged regardless @ 20% + 10% .. thats 32% ! and including RM25 for UPS .. arghhhhhh

Ah i'll try meeting the custom's officer on monday. Clarify the tax etc and try to talk my way out .. if possible. If everything fails then i'll just have to quietly pay for it sleep.gif"
