guys and sifu-sifu,

some of us fancy prime like 85mm 100mm 135mm
for prime poison and bokeh or portrait thing

however most of us already have 50mm 1.8, so would u spend money to get a 85mm 1.8 canon / 85mm 1.4 samyang / ...
bokehlicious?
(just to add 35mm in distance or ??)

or would u consider better 100mm f2 / f2.8L
(dont wan alang alang +35mm and too little distance) since got 50mm...

or would u go for 135mm f2? but 135mm surely more exp. 3k

pls share your opinion on lens planning and experience.
thx

full frame or crop? On crop I find 50mm already damn tele ... I don't have much portrait experience but I've never felt like "I wish I had something more tele" to shoot.

If you're Nikon user, you can go Nikon center in time square to test the lens.

Personally I use 50, 85, 135 to shoot potraits when I use FF body.
On crop body I use 35,50,85.

there's 2 camp of preference
one camp is the classic 35, 85 , 135. add 50 mm every step
there's another camp going for 24, 50, 100 double up every step

the holy trinity is 35,85,135. guess the combo works better with FF

Frankly speaking, every focal length has it own usage. Try it, like it and buy it. smile.gif

50mm is never enough. Quality of bokeh is important as you certainly don't want to have distracting bokeh which ruins your image.

Not really. The longer the focal length, the further you need to stand and you will face problem should you have limited space. Also, the longer the focal length, the lesser light you have and not to forgot the tendency of getting blurry image due to handshake is higher when you are using long lens.

This is true.
There are 50mm F1.4, 85mm F1.4

But for 100mm, 135mm, 200mm. I think the biggest in production today is F2 only.
