mrs got her red m2 sedan r-spec (fitted with leather seats) last week (wuc92xx), tomorrow due for 1000km service. went to frasers hill once, and bagan lalang twice. fuel consumption so far, RON95 (Petronas): 6.40lit/100km = 15.63km/lit = 44.15mpg (UK gallon). hopefully better after 1st service.

my 30-sec review:
‎245km roundtrip, setia alam to our silverpark home in fraser's hill. mixture of expressways, country winding roads, steep up/downhill. nimble & responsive, minimal under/oversteer, steering a bit tight, acceleration good. enough power & torque to hit the slopes & curves, with just mrs & me in the car, hehehe! suitable for couple like us for leisure drive, not as a family car, prolly. biggrin.gif

nice nice...
lurve the red
thanks, it's quite a nice (sporty) car to drive, provided not overloaded. the r-spec low profile tyres and sport-tuned suspension help. tomorrow taking it for a spin to seremban & muar. the leather seats are quite nice & comfy, if you have extra cash i'd recommend them. smells great too! biggrin.gif

what's the special on the VR spec?
*
v-spec + some accesories (such as wing mirrors with signals). am told they add the goodies to offload the unpopular colours of the v-spec cars.

We were in Kg Serom, near Muar, today. Another excellent drive, this time loaded with 5 ppl to stress-test the M2. thumbup.gif

Red is so striking! Beautiful! Really suits the curves on the M2. How was your experience ferrying 5 people on a M2? Was it sempit? Enough power?
*
thanks. as far as a 1.5-litre car went, it did pretty well with 5 ppl, though things were a bit cramped at the back (simply because driver and front-seat pax pushed their seats back). with such a load, power/torque did well considering the circumstances. i managed to hit 140 along the elite expressway near nilai, and had no problem tagging along with the speedsters on the right lane. engine was very responsive (tekan minyak, immediately could hear whine of engine as it downshifted), while noise minimal. overall a pleasant drive. as i said, best as a car for single or double occupancy. smile.gif

haha..just burn a mp3 cd with lots of folders inside..all in a cd..
*
hehehe, yes.

anyway 1 cd can hold about 700min of mp3 (assuming 128kb/s encoding). that'd be 11 hours of music. drive to kelantan and back also cannot finish 1 cd. surely enough maaa ... cool2.gif

Just got my 1k service and was surprised to notice a difference in performance, maybe due directly to the 1st 1k service or perhaps they didn't use fully synthetic engine oil initially. ...
definitely, they just got rid of the original oil poured into the engine at the factory. so dunno when that was, could be ages ago, and by now must be full of muck due to the new engine parts. that's one major reason why they advise you not to trash the car too much before 1000km service. with new (synthetic) oil after that 1st service, you can really stress-test the car! biggrin.gif

hahaha. bro good idea. but our player is not like pioneer player. CD is hot after playing more than an hr. better stop playing after n hr or two using. switch to AUX or FM
*
yeah, i love the aux, using it more often than cd. just plug in an 8gb mp3 player and you are home, bro! the aux port is also nicely placed in the m2 near the handbrake, unlike my other car, where it's at the audio console itself.

Ya.. we are missing the 6-cd, trip computer, retracting side mirrors in our Malaysia models, envy the Thailand model...

i'm also annoyed for being short-changed!

I'm not sure about the true red colour, but my metropolitan grey mica looks and feels metallic, even without the metallic word.
I think mat spuntik and squareballs are having the true red M2, maybe they can confirm.
*
very true red, nothing metallic, indistinguishable from 'ferrari red'. btw it's the missus's car, not mine. whistling.gif

yep thats the one. turn clockwise to the red zone wow! very impressive hot air coming out  biggrin.gif  BUT when will we ever be using it here in Malaysia??
Heaterloh use during colder months in temperate climates. but here? maybe use to dry clothes kah? hahahahah
*
believe it or not, i sometimes use heater function in car during our stay at fraser's hill in winter time (nov-feb). at night temps can be as low as 12C at the silverpark apartments, being exposed to the monsoons. smile.gif

anyway the hot air is just air heated by running engine.

will be driving Mazda 2 sedan for another 5-7 days .car felt very light and responsive. almost want to try high speed cruising  but the odometer only shown 700km...this M2 very stable may be due to low profile tyres..
*
if R-spec definitely yes ... handles like heavier cars.

Quick 'pre-Raya' balik kampong done. We're now back in Setia Alam after a 3-day trip to Kelantan (route: Setia Alam - Gombak - Bentong - Raub - Lipis - GuaMusang- Krai - Machang - Ketereh).

First long-distance outing for our 5-week-old Mazda2 (R-spec sedan), covered 997km, fuel burnt 7.02lit/100km (14.25km/lit). With just 3 of us onboard, the M2 performed well, responsive 1.5 engine + sport-spec suspension with low-profile tyres handling the slopes & curves comfortably, esp. between Lipis and Merapoh. The pliant leather seats also helped. :-)
