Internazionale supremo Massimo Moratti has confirmed the club need a striker and will sign either Luca Toni, David Trezeguet or Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The three international marksmen all have uncertain futures with their clubs currently embroiled in the match-fixing scandal in Italy.

While Inter had been linked with a move for all three before, the Nerazzurri chief has confirmed they will keep faith in Brazil striker Adriano and only add one of the trio to their squad.

World Cup winner Toni is the preferred option, but the Juventus men may take his place should the Azzurri hit-man decide to stay with Fiorentina.

"The idea is to sign one of them, then we will see," Moratti explained.

"Fiorentina and Juventus are involved with their immediate futures and the player's wishes will have to be met. Inter won't decide.

"Only one of the three players? Yes. It seems right to renew faith in Adriano, who is only 24 and has had a difficult season, but played for his national team.

"We need a forward. Toni is obviously a target, and the other two could become too."

Moratti also talked about the summer's comings and goings and described his hopes for the new season, with his comments about Portuguese midfielder Maniche sure to provoke new speculation.

"To replace Veron we have Pizarro, who deserves a chance, and then you'll see that Maxwell will burst through, so we don't really have too many problems," he added.

"(Steven) Gerrard? No. Do you know who I liked most in Germany? Maniche. He's a complete player, he has a big shot, a good overall view of the game and charisma."

The Stadio Giuseppe Meazza outfit face Tottenham Hotspur away on July 30 in the first of their big pre-season fixtures.

Inter Milan are set to sign Juventus hard-man Patrick Vieira for £10million today, beating off late interest from Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

Vieira, 30, will become the first of many players to exit Juve this summer as the confirmation of the clubs plight in Serie B was confirmed last week.

An Inter source revealed: "Vieira is the No 1 target to replace Juan Veron, who has returned to Argentina.

"The sporting director, Marco Branca, has already met Vieira in London and now Inter are trying to open talks with Juventus to do the deal for £10m straight away."

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) have awarded the 2005/06 Serie A title to Internazionale.

The Nerazzurri win the title after Juventus were stripped of the scudetto as part of their punishment for their involvement in the match-fixing scandal that has rocked Italian football.

The Old Lady were relegated to Serie B and docked 17 points on appeal as a result of their guilty verdict in the match-fixing scandal.

Second place Milan were docked 30 points from the total they amassed last season - thus seeing the Rossoneri fall from their original position in the table.

With Inter initially finishing third in the table, the club claimed last season's domestic title for being the highest-ranked club left following the sanctions imposed on their rivals.

As a result, Inter have won their first scudetto since 1989 and will go into the coming season's UEFA Champions League group phase as champions of Italy.

The FIGC have also decided that the 2004/05 Serie A title that was also stripped from Juventus in this month's match-fixing verdict will remain unassigned.

Patrick Vieira has reiterated his desire to remain in Serie A, after completing a £6.5 million transfer to Internazionale.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed he considered a move for the former Juventus man before the Scot unveiled Michael Carrick on Wednesday.

A return to The Premiership, a league Vieira graced for almost a decade with Arsenal, could have proved attractive to the France international midfielder.

However, after opting to leave demoted Juve, Vieira was delighted to return to the top division in Italy and is now determined to prove his worth to Inter coach Roberto Mancini.

"I'm really happy to be here," said Vieira.

"We are a great side and can win a lot with the players we have. If I want to play then I will have to work to show the coach I deserve to play.

"I wanted to play in Serie A. I wanted to play at the highest level and win things again.

"After the first contact with [Inter official] Marco Branca, I understood how much the club wanted me and that convinced me to sign."

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has expressed his delight at sealing a dream move to Internazionale.

The Swedish striker decided to leave Juventus last week following their relegation to Serie B for match-fixing.

And, after putting the finishing touches on a four-year deal at the Giuseppe Meazza, Ibrahimovic explained that he has always longed to play for Inter.

"When I heard that Inter wanted me I was happy because, as a child I supported them," he said.

"I am very pleased now because I have joined a strong side. My future is with this club.

"I am happy to work with a coach like Roberto Mancini who was a great player.

Ibrahimovic is not coming just to make up the numbers though, and is desperate to play a key role for the ambitious Italian giants.

"I want to play the big matches and I want to play in the UEFA Champions League," he remarked.

"We are as good as Chelsea and Barcelona and we can win everything."

Internazionale have confirmed Jose Mourinho as their new manager as successor to Roberto Mancini.

Jose Mourinho has made his first signing as Inter Milan boss with the arrival of Amantino Mancini.

Inter have been chasing the signature of Mancini since the arrival of Mourinho earlier this summer.

Mancini has inked a four-year deal with Inter after a fee in the region of €12.5million (£10million) was agreed with Roma.

The Brazilian is set to be unveiled as their first summer signing on Tuesday afternoon.
