tbh I'd take the Rm7k job too. AT&T is a respectable co and a RM7k job probably has a fair amount of international exposure.
And you're in our lovely (BIG) country, not the pent up, claustrophobic country of Singapore. |

QUOTE(Mackiddo @ May 18 2010, 07:51 PM) it's a laughing stock when the Ministry of Education having a flip-flop policies. Last time used to teach in Malay, then English, then back to Malay. I'm glad I sent my kids to be schooled in Sg. At least I know they will be treated equally when it's time to go University or JC. There was a time when they said that whilst the school plays a big part, parents is ultimately the driving force and the pillar of the child's growth, irregardless of being in M'sia, Singapore or JB, no miracle in school can save the child from his parent's neglect to be the guide in all things.I don't agree Msia education is more rounded. It's actually Sg education which is more rounded, less based on text book, more on research and 'out of the box' thinking. If not why would hundred, probably thousand of parents in JB sending their kids to be school in Sg ? |

Hi guys, need your advise on this. My girl lives in singapore with a bunch of friends (rented), and they were there since beginning of this year. Today she told me that her house got splashed red paint because the ex-tenant owed loan sharks some money.
Right now, for me, I'm worried for her safety. What do you suggest she can do? |

QUOTE(Mackiddo @ Jun 9 2010, 11:25 AM) Ahaha I wonder whether we can construct a case in such a way to claim a breach of contract by the landlady/landlord, so that they can arrange to move out.QUOTE(seantang @ Jun 9 2010, 11:29 AM) Obviously you need to come down here and protect her, right? Haahaha, what is this, trying to get me move my butt southbound ke? Anyway, just make a police report and legally inform the landlord. They'll have to work it out. She can also call her MP directly or go to the Community Center to find out when the MP will be conducting his next meet-the-grassroots session. They usually respond quite well to educated folks who are capable of going straight to the press or PAP HQ. In any case... the alongs in Singapore are softies. All they dare to do is paint this, paint that. I've never actually heard or read of actual cases of physical aggression. But I do feel better knowing that ahahah, even though I'm still worried cos all girls >< They've informed the landlady and supposedly she spoke to the ahlongs oredi, kononnya promise to install CCTV somemore. QUOTE(kockroach @ Jun 9 2010, 11:30 AM) Most if not all of us going back Malaysia during festive season ma,so no problem. Hahaha good to hear that.Added on June 9, 2010, 11:31 am Report police.I am sure the ah long here dare not do anything. My colleague an ex-AST (Ang soon tang) member also told me not to worry about all those ah long cuz most of them are big noise no power de |

Hi, how many years experience required to get about S$6k a month in "finance/accounting" in Singapore? Anyone knows what the general job scope/position in Singapore that'll get that salary?
The purpose of this question to me, is so that I know the requirements, and can then work towards building a set of skills and experience necessary to demand a S$6k salary |

QUOTE(seantang @ Jun 25 2010, 05:12 PM) I rather not say out loud... but it's at the top end of this list: http://www.icis.com/Articles/2007/09/17/90...-companies.html Sounds like Exxon to me hahahaha... my uncle's pay in RM is probably GM pay outside.. but he's only an advisor (not even supervisor based on their staff group) lol...QUOTE(cierra_tansy) Is there any vacancy? Of course there are. Apply from the career sections in their websites. QUOTE(cierra_tansy) I believe that not much company will pay so much for manager. A manager in one company, may not be a manager in another company. It depends on the job scope (regional, global etc), how big is your portfolio and how profitable is the company. But one word of qualification... is that the old American MNCs are very stingy on titles. Managers and sometimes senior managers from Big4 accounting firms join us as executives/analysts/specialists, because that's where their pay scale lies. It's quite common for our experienced finance analysts or finance managers to join other companies as financial controllers or finance directors/CFOs respectively. My previous boss who left us as a finance director joined a SGX listed company as CFO. He's now the Deputy CEO. This post has been edited by ThanatosSwiftfire: Jun 25 2010, 05:37 PM |

QUOTE(seantang @ Jul 23 2010, 12:17 AM) My company just hired a new Tech Service & Development Engineer. The chap was in KL and moved to Singapore to join us. We gave him 2 months stay at a serviced apartment at Cairnhill Rd and one-off relocation assistance of roughly 1-2 months salary. The cash was paid to him on the first day of work so that he does not have to wait until pay day to get money to pay deposits for rental, buy necessities etc. Very impressive! hahahahaAs for joining bonus, my company does sometimes pay for experienced hires. It's usually based on the value of stock options, deferred shares, deferred bonus, long service bonus, long service leave etc that the candidate had accumulated from his previous job. For those chaps whom we really, REALLY want to hire, we'll give them an additional bonus to compensate them for the loss of service years at their previous job. Usually 1 month of salary per year of service. |

QUOTE(seantang @ Oct 7 2010, 08:07 PM) Singapore's 2010 growth rate looks set to surpass China's to be the highest in the world. Coupled with the self-imposed reductions in new immigrant intake, it looks like the time is right to job hop or hit your employer with a demand for salary increase. Time to hop over? QUOTE(seantang @ Oct 7 2010, 10:01 PM) I really think so. Am getting at least a call or email each week from recruiters since 2 or 3 months ago. Last time, 90% will just say that the client doesn't have the budget when I tell them what's the minimum salary before we continue talking (to filter out the non-starters and time wasters). Now... it's such a change. 2 out of 3 will readily say that the client's budget is more than enough, will pay out notice periods/secrecy/non-competitive clauses, will consider signing bonuses to compensate for accrued/deferred shares/bonuses/options or take my total years of experience into their retirement/termination packages etc. Whoah such optimism! I wonder whether it'll last though XDHaven't seen such a bullish environment in the last 6 years I've been here. Really need to have a heart to heart with my bosses. |
