Need advice here. If I bring two or three units of Ipad from US to SG for friends, I heard that they will be exempted from tax if declared as gift. However, I just read from SG Custom website, which stated the relief is for value up to $300 only. Any idea if it is indeed possible to get tax exemption for items > $300? Thanks.

QUOTE(mercury8400 @ Jun 17 2010, 02:52 PM) I was offered a job in Sg but not sure whether to accept or not? The job's a downgrade from my current one in m'sia but the pay is better (no conversion). They offered SGD 4+++ but i duno if that is enough to go about in Sg especially rent is on the high side. Any advise? The Sg com is a american company in Jurong dealing with heavy equipment. Perhaps you can list down your financial commitments and let others comment on it. |

QUOTE(iamsobloodysick @ Jun 22 2010, 06:30 PM) Hi Guys, I won't do that unless I'm rich I have ~4 years of experience in the IT/Telco industry. I'm interested to get a job in Singapore. But I'm still hesitating whether to give up my current job and spend a month or two there seeking for a job, or keep my current job until I secure a job? Is it too big a risk if I opt for the former? Thanks. QUOTE(crapp0 @ Jun 23 2010, 11:05 AM) US customers getting it on 24th june. I guess its either july or september whereby all carriers in sg will offer the iphone 4. Previously I was thinking to get Motorola Droid because of its physical keyboard, but now am considering HTC Desire/iPhone 4 because I find the keyboard not as intuitive as other phone's.Donno whether to get either the iphone 4, htc desire or wait abit longer for motorola driod 2 coz its way faster and has a physical keyboard. QUOTE(giorgene @ Jul 22 2010, 11:58 AM) If im not wrong, IRAS calculate your annual income, end of 2010, your total income less than 22k, you don't have to pay tax. That's right, they calculate the total income for the whole calendar year.My friend worked for around 181~182 days, contacted IRAS before his last day of service, and was asked to stay in SG for few more days to make it 183 days. Eventually he got his $ back. I guess it's on case by case basis. |

QUOTE(crapp0 @ Aug 2 2010, 04:06 PM) Relatively the same, if you buy in malaysia and theres and issue with the laptop, you gotta go back to my just to claim warranty. I bought my Asus laptop in MY and sent it to Asus SG for service. I'm not sure what's the detailed terms for international warranty, but didn't care so much. However, I really doubt if MY price really cheaper than SG price. For example, the model I bought is about RM200 lower price in MY, but the graphics processor is of older generation. If differences are subtle and not important it should be worthy to buy in MY.You can offset the cheaper price in malaysia when you pay for transport just to send it back for warranty. |

Guys, any of you have experience slow mobile bb recently? I'm using SingTel mbb, it worked very well for me for the first 6 months. Since certain time in July onward, it became very irritating. Just now it took me more than 15 minutes (keep trying) to access this thread. Very often I'm not even able to visit google or singtel website, despite the fact that 3G signal indication is full.

I bring my laptop to National Library @ Bugis today, the connection is ok. Same thing happens to my newly signup mobile data plan, able to watch youtube pretty smooth on my hp over there, but it's very slow if use it at home. So I guess it's indeed area specific issue. What bother me is that it used to function very well for the first 6 months of subscription...
Any recommended way to tether for Motorola Dext? I try out PdaNet (a tethering software) today, very easy to setup. But once start tethering my laptop running Windows Vista will crash in 5 to 10 minutes This post has been edited by Find The Way: Aug 15 2010, 10:35 PM |
