There is a list of "hot" jobs on MOM's website, so I guess if your job is in the list you might have a better chance (???).

Anyway, in the Straits Times about a month back it was reported that the online PR self-test tool was removed (no good reason given for removal) and a Japanese lady working here (forgot what field, but salary SGD4k) who got her PR application rejected: she (and others) complained about lack of transparency about the process.  sweat.gif
*
sgd4k...not a lot la..i dont think they approve the application based on your salary.... sad.gif

my company soon going to have job opening...i am looking for a IT support..prefer leng lui tongue.gif

uh....it might seem cheap to u, but not for a freshie who hasn't started working in singapore like me. one month deposit+one month advanced rental+half rental, for a room $400 that is rm2k already
*
it's better to get agent if pay half consider very good as agent will help you settle everything including the tenant agreement...no matter how..you need to pay the $$$...that's the pre-requisite to get job in sg.

thats why I inquired about ads by owners...everywhere is agents. there r like 2-3 owners, but none of them bother to answer my messages....everyday online open all renting websites hoping theres new ads....
*
you email them or you call?...room/house renting here is consider a hot market...unless it's a haunted house...else it's very easy for owner to rent it out...dont expect them to reply your email..i try ady last time..they will never reply you.

what you need to do is call~..if you engage agent..u can tell the agent your requirements on the room...then they will help you filter and nego..mine initially landlord ask fro 650..then my agent help me deal with 600~..

i search through the websites provided in this thread. owners rarely leave their contact no. or fake no. so i just send message through their ads, even pay for premium (smart websites).
i don't mind to get an agent if i am already working in singapore and getting money in SGD, but at the moment i still a freshie in malaysia earning ringgit saving in ringgit. deposit is super huge amount of $$, plus $200-300 agent fee is humongous......
*
ooo...then i advise you to save the money for deposit....sometime if really urgent..you might try borrow with your family member...

this is consider as an investment..if you really dont want to engage agent..then you really need a lot of luk to get a room wink.gif

everyone has already given their advise i think the only think we can say is good luk..

have you go thru the link we provide at 1st post?

QUOTE(magiclover @ Jul 3 2010, 06:34 PM)
I just rented a room 4 days ago, with quite a nasty owner
Living with a pair of old retired couple, stays at home 24/7 and watch me do everything
Bathe only 2 times allowed, washing machine(manual kind) use twice a week maximum 4 pairs, not allowed to hang my clothes when I'm out, i need to be in to wait for my clothes to dry to collect them, must let them know what time I return home, and where I go etc etc...
Really regret for making such a rush decision and paid so much for agent fee!
I think sooner or later I might lose my professionalism and throw temper, haha

Plan to move out in 3 months time! haha, better not stay with owner imo.
Property prices in Sg is really, sigh. Weekend crowd in shopping mall, sigh. Lol.
*
not every landlord as bad as yours...at least mine is still ok...stay here for 1 month and i can feel i will stay here in the coming months and years... whistling.gif

Power sial, only allowed to bath 2 times a day?

Just to show how "ngiau" singaporeans can get. They give scrooge mcduck a run for his money.

Added on July 5, 2010, 8:32 am

What rooms do you have available and cost?
*
actually the most a guy bath also 2 times...any1 bath more than 2?..but they dont need to state it out like that...previously when i searching for room..a landlord also say the aircond only can use from 7pm to 7am...once i heard this term..i immediate feel the chance i going to grab that room become slimmer....it's nonsense..mean even weekend i am at home and i cant use the aircond until 7pm... mad.gif

So far your the first story i've heard where the landlord stipulates a limit on how many baths you can take. Feels like water rationing during communist occupation.

Most landlords would balk at the idea of u staying at home on the weekend using up the precious electricity, worse still if your using the air cond over the weekend non stop which even i have to agree is over the top unless its very hot.

Or you can rent a whole flat and then you get the headache of how to equally divide the utilities. One forumer had an excellent idea to fix that problem, akin to having a gun pointed to your head.
