so, they ARE targeting FT from Malaysia too! that's just sad because I thought Singaporeans are ok with Malaysians coming to Singapore to seek for fairer job opportunities, knowing that Malaysians (non-bumi) are discriminated by Msia system. Now it seems that we are again discriminated in Singapore.....  doh.gif

anyway, most of my Singaporean colleagues are still treating me as normal, but their issue with FTs is really not helping at all. doh.gif

well, alot of singaporeans used to be malaysians, so i think malaysians are quite spared... our style & culture is also very similar so its easy for malaysians & singaporeans to blend together...

the discrimination to FTs is mostly Pinoys & Mainland chinese me feels.

You cant sleep without air-conditioning?

depends le... some rooms can be quite small and stuffy if without aircon... and depending on the hdb design, if room window is facing common corridor, then noisy lo to open ... smile.gif

Hi. A headhunter was asking me whether I am interested to apply for a contract based job in singapore bank. I am not sure whether I should give it a try as I am quite concerned about the job security. Currently I have a permanent post in malaysian bank. of course, I would love to work in singapore. Wanna gather more comments before I make up my mind. Any comments? Tq

Anybody can intro some IT related jobs esp dealing with SIEBEL for my gf? She has 6 months experience doing programming for that software but it seems like hard to find opening for such a language.
*
siebel CRM ah? My IT guys seem to be short on that department but not sure if their scope is programming it or just rather supporting the application where the vendor is actually doing the programming. Want me to check further?

Wow that would be awesome! Its okay just ask them whether they need anyone with siebel background. I'm not sure what my gf did in office but she says she's not part of the programming team either. But she has to fiddle around with the interface all day long. Her company is developing the front end for CIMB. Fresh grad, from UTeM, a local uni in Melaka but has spent past 6 months breathing siebel.

ok sure, but if possible drop me a PM la on her experience with siebel... think will need to find out more about her skills so i can check if its a match... smile.gif

Seeing M1 has the best iPhone deal among all, i'm tempted to sign up a postpaid line (currently a StarHub prepaid user). Any M1 postpaid user here? How's the 3G performance? Any major complaint/dissatisfaction?
*
totally satisfied with the 3g performance, signal is quite similar to my wifes phone on starhub in major areas.

Actually the best way to choose from the 3 telcos is depending on your location (work & stay), different telco have different coverage within areas of this small island. In certain areas, M1 would have low coverage, in certain areas, singtel would have low coverage. You can ask your colleagues if they have any noticeable drop in performance from their particular telco when they enter specific areas of the office (i.e, if you want to do facebooking together with your toilet business). biggrin.gif

Other than coverage, its the cost (yes, M1 always the cheapest and there is also the multi saver plan which you can google about), but if you plan to get cable TV, broadband etc , then you may want to check out the other telco's bundled deals

Cost of living in Singapore is actually dirt cheap with the exception of properties, insurance, medical and education.
Others are damn cheap.

Imagine for S$99 per month, you can subscribe for 100mbps fibre optics + mobile internet + free 6 mths Mio TV (Astro in MY) PLUS a FREE LG 46" Full HD TV

But with RM99, you can only subscribe for a mere 1mpbs Streamyx in Msia.

So, Msia pls go dai.

Kthxbai.
*
really? thinking of getting, but abit put off by the installation charges (i think about $180).

but didnt know about the 46"... which telco is this?

I think the talk about SG providing faster broadband is hype up.
i used to surf on 515kb speed in KL. But now im using 6MB speed with singtel.
The speed, page loading, etc is exactly the same.
2ndly, the internet speed in my office is also the same as in KL.
i dun see any difference.
altho i dun watch movies or youtube, but just by comparing page loading, i dun see the difference. it still takes about 2-3 second to load a simple or previous pages. But will be more than 5 seconds for a more complicated page (like more photos, or moving pictures, etc)
at best, probably its 1MB.

It's just me?
*
loading speed of normal pages won't make much of a difference at these levels. Your PC itself is already the bottle neck to how much faster your page can load and most sites also have quite low bandwidth assigned to each connecting user... that's why for the casual surfer, you don't need a fast connection ma...

.. try streaming or torrenting, then the fun kicks in...
