QUOTE(rickysim84 @ Jul 19 2010, 07:01 PM) when u are working in a foreign country, u shouldn't job hope so much since u know that their gov will keep a record of that and that will affect your PR application in the future. You should tahan 1st until u get ur PR, then u can do what ever u want coz u are a Singapore resident which makes not much different from a Singaporean just like u can hope 1 company a month in malaysia and the gov cannot kacau u.

Just curious on a PR question. If I were to get a PR and my family stays in Malaysia (only once a while casual visits to SG), can I be a PR and my family remains as non-PR?

If you don't apply for them, they will have no resident status in Singapore. This post has been edited by seantang: Jul 19 2010, 08:43 PM

What is the cheapest and reliable method to transfer money back to Malaysia. I found out that via Maybank SG TT is $15, which is the cheapest so far. But the draw back is that I have to have a MBB SG account. Otherwise, over the counter is $30, which is an exorbitant amount. Any other banks offering competitive rates?

TT via Maybank or OCBC is the best, last time I tried before but forgotten the charges. But why not money changer? (if you don't mind carrying few thousands in your bag as money changer rates are better then bank rates). Try Mustapha at China Town. (You might get the best rate in Singapore).

QUOTE(giorgene @ Jul 20 2010, 12:11 PM) why don't you use money changer TT? charges is $10 and i think the rates is better than bank I usually send money back to Malaysia to pay for shares. It's a real pain to go to a bank, withdraw 20-30K, then walk around with that kind of money to a money changer and then trust them (and their staff) to TT it back for me. I know they have licences and everything... but even if it's their staff who steals it, you'll be dragged into making police reports, court cases etc. I don't have the stomach for that.
