My mom did it at GH. Reading tis thread, I don't understand y go to private while GH can do same job at lower cost?
My father in-law also scheduled to do his at GH, after consulted at private specialist. Reason? Why pay more for the same thing?
GH will put you on a long waiting list. As for my dad who is 70+, he would prefer to be serviced and get good service. And he's willing to pay higher for better service.
He can always go back to the Dr Kok which charge cheaper price than other private hospitals/clinics but at the end of the day, he's not satisfied with the service he get. There are different priorities in every patient. It can be the cost of surgery, service of staff and doctors, hospital/clinic environment, convenience, or time. If you have time and is looking for cheaper service, then by all means, visit the GH.

You can try
Advance Vision at Damansara Uptown, managed and owned by Dr. Yeoh.
One price RM2,200 per eye for cataract, no hidden charge and extra cost on the follow up, which is next day, one week and one month after the operation/previous follow up.
RM80 for first time inspection and consultation.
That area quite hard to get parking, just go early to prevent long waiting queue too in the centre.
The staffs are friendly and helpful. Dr. Yeoh is funny, able to speak in Mandarin, Cantonese and English.
What determine the operation cost is the technology and the lens used.
Advance Vision is using Phacoemulsification and AMO (Abbott Medical Optics) lens from US which is good according to my friend whose used to work in THONEH.
With Phacoemulsification the wound is much smaller, thus recovery is quicker and the chance of infection is lower.
Overall, very good service.
If you need more details, just Google it or visit theirs website.

Thanks! I'll dig up some info on it. Appreciate it.
