afaik, its very rare for an empty case/box to be shipped into retail.

if you've been to a factory (or work in one), most production lines have ways to determine if the final package contains the actual product or not, e.g. a weighing device that checks the final weight.

If the final package is too heavy or too light, it will be rejected.

If your story is indeed true, its more likely that an employee at the retail store could have took out the disc and reseal the box by mistake... or intentionally.

These things are rare, but you can't deny it does happen. I bought my PC version of Bioshock which doesn't come with the serial key. Brought it back to the store and they turned the manual inside out, even looking at the manual as if it has writing in invisible ink lol. I expected them to just give me a new copy, but they instead sent my copy to Singapore to reprint the missing serial key. Oh well.

I did send an email to Sony Style regarding this issue. I told them this is a fraud case and should take any possible actions to prevent it from getting more innocent people being victimize.

It's pretty much of a standardised reply. Did they mention anything about replacement another PS3 game for you? Maybe slip in some T'shirt or even maybe posters, perhaps?

They didn't mention about replacement for another game. They just asked if I can wait for another week to re-order the game. I said OK laugh.gif

And they said you'll get the replacement or you'd have to pay for the game again after a week?

They told me to bring along the receipt to collect the game next week. No extra payment has to be made... sweat.gif

Good. You've been verbally assured that no hidden charges or any implicit fees are involved when you pick up the replacement. As long as assurance were given, that shouldn't be a problem.

Well it does happen, should be a mistake at production side.

Sometimes things like this will slip QC.

IMO not the retailer's fault though
