Hello,
I found this forum while google-ing on swiftlet. I want to build my own bird house. I gained lots of infomation from these posts. Since I'm coming to Malaysia at the end of this month. May anybody here kindly let me visit his/her BirdHouse? I'll be staying at Kuala Lumpur city. I'm from Vietnam though.1
Thank you very much. I really appreciate what you all have been sharing.
Good luck.

Hello everyone,

I've just opened my birdhouse about 1 week. In the morning when doing bird call (from 6am - 10am), there are about 100+ birds hovering above my birdhouse at anytime. Then I turn the sound off. I do bird call again in the afternoon (from 4pm - 8pm). The problem is, only about 10 birds hovering above my bird house. I have not had a chance to do bird count in the morning yet. But I think there are not many bird staying inside in the evening.
Why there are much more bird in the morning than in the afternoon?
Should I stop doing bird call in the morning and doing only once a day in the afternoon?
What timeframe does everybody here doing bird call in the day?

Thanks.

Hello,

I am new to this swiftlet farming. I have read through many threads, forums, blogs about swiftlet. There a forum named SMC by Dr. L that I can not access. I saw many members here have access over there. I do not know if anybody can do me a favor by lending me your account at SMC.

Thank you very much.

My birdhouse has been in operation for 7 months now. The first two months, there was almost no birds at all. The following 3 months, there are about 100-150 birds flew around my birdhouse. I was so happy with the number of bird on the sky. The problem is, after that period the number of bird starts to decline. Now I have almost 2.5 months with almost no birds flying around my birdhouse. Of course those birds that have stayed they always come back in the evening (about 30 birds).
When I do a bird test at a place about 1.5kms from my birdhouse, there are so many birds (about 200+ birds).
Has anybody experienced this problem before? What did I do wrong? Or my location is just too bad?
Thanks.

I agree that birds in the sky is probably not our tenant. But if there's no bird in the sky, the chance of newcomer is much lower. How can they just stay right away without exploring the place for at least a few days.

I can conclude the number of birds because of the CCTV system inside the nesting room. Shit not always tell us exactly the number of birds staying in. That is my experience from my birdhouse. There are so many bird shit spots. But the actual number is lower. Only bird shit spots that increase in size has some meaning.

The sound I have used so far is black cloud, marvelous cloud, Dr Lim external sounds. I haven't tried duress sound although I have them at hand.
I tested another place with the same sound that is being used in my birdhouse. I just don't understand why there are so many birds at a location pretty close to my birdhouse (1.5 km) but my birdhouse has no birds exploring like usual. Can not understand why.

@somman99, oneup: I am not blaming anyone here. Please consider the problem: birds response really good to the same sound at a location which not so far from my birdhouse. What's the logic behind this? For more info: there's no other birdhouse in 10km radius. I NEVER use duress sound.

I don't really understand why people keep saying patience, patience. I have been waiting for 2.5 months (try to change sound several times). I have to wait for how long? 6 months, 1 years, 2 years?

Thank you everyone for your opinions. I really appreciate.
Since we live in a busy world, maybe some of you just scan through my post and reply. But I like to reiterate once again. I play external sound at my birdhouse. No birds at all during the day. I play the same external sound at a location 1.5 km away from my birdhouse. There are many birds response to the sound. Mostly every time I test. The same result happens. There is no other BH in 10km radius. Mine is the only one
