Please help.
My standalone BH just completed Plank installation for about 2 weeks but fungus started to grow. The temperature and humidity of each floor of my BH are as follow : at 3:00PM 29/03/11
1st floor 27.3DegC and 99%rh
2nd floor 27.5DegC and 98%rh
3rd floor near roving area 28.2DegC and 88%rh

Data logger data as follow :
1st floor Period from 28/3 20:00 to 29/3 17:00
Temperature 27.5 ~ 28.0DegC
Humidity 93.5%rh ~ 95.0%rh

3rd floor near roving area in the nesting room
Period from 28/3 08:00 to 29/3 17:00
Temperatue 28.5 ~ 29.5DegC
Humidity 81.5%rh ~ 91.0%rh

Obviously the fungus is cause by High humidity.
How can the humidity builded up so high?
I did not use any humidifier in my BH.
My BH is a 22X80X3 storey building.
Each floor I am having total 32 pcs of 3" ventilation holes.
could it be the number of VH not enough?
Please enlighten me.

The fungus problem is obviously caused by high humidity. You will have to determine the source for the water vapour. Do you know what is the RH of the external conditions during the period?

I think TC means Talk C0ck = Omong Kosong & BH=Bird House.

Of course we all know that when WW writes, no more TC but all serious stuff. He is a humble man. thumbup.gif

Are you trying to discourage newbies like me to venture into this industry?

I'm telling the truth from the perspective of a BH owner myself. 80% failure and 20% success for new ###############

Tuck Fook,

You have said the things I had wanted to say but much better.

I truly like your statement "Greed and hope blinds us."

If one day, the wild Afs get infected (God forbid) by some man-introduced virus, we will know who started this.

The police are too busy taking care of UMNO's business. The rakyat's protection is just about nothing now unless kopi O given on a private basis and they will ronda-ronda your BH at night provided it is in town.

Fully furnished and wages double that of normal folks in that area is a good start. Not easy, isn't it?

Once I was in Bintulu taking pics and videos of a BH with a lot of birds. Nobody disturbed me. Of course I had no clue that it belonged to a taikor. It is in town, so should be ok. Later in the evening over dinner, my friend told me that it belonged to a Big Brother.

Story only lah. True or not I am not sure.

I hope the people in Bintulu will have a lot of success in EBN industry.

American cars go into roundabout anti-lockwise. British cars go into roundabout clockwise.

Afs also follow these rules, especially when the speed of entry is high. It also depends on the latitude.

Within 3 deg North or South of the Equator, it does not matter very much.

Just my 2 sen.

As I have stated before, animals that are monogamous do not depend on aroma to make love and swiftlet are paired for life! Only females that need many males produce pheromones when in heat.

If aroma is needed to produce a comfortable environment for the birds, I am fully supportive of it. If it is to induce them to mate, then there is no scientific evidence and logic to support it.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Hearsay and personal testimonies have the lowest credibility in scientific investigations.

When you CONVERT digital sound, there is always a loss in quality. How much is lost depends on the bit rate and differences in format.

Copying the same sound digitally DOES NOT alter the quality of the sound.

It is a myth that adult swiftlets cannot take off after falling to the ground.

My BH is in the middle of rubber plantation and it is doing very well.

Also late this evening after rain, a lot of flying termites came out but the swiftlets did not feed on them. Wonder what's the reason?
