Ok, I see where you're coming from. So why not start a thread on xenophobia then and see what people have to say about it.
Philosophy This is what we lack in this thread..., ...and in regular conversations.

Perhaps, I'd say the other lacking element is “Boundary”. Putting in simple terms, a boundary is one's personal “property line.” Boundaries help define who we are in our relationships, as well as also help protect us from injury and harm.
In our daily life, the abuse of ideas is often a disaster, especially when sound patronizing philosophically. Although going to contend over something as trivial as our different ideas of perspective seems unwise, but what if our views of chastity, temperance, charity, diligence, patience, kindness, and humility — and countless other virtues, including our Faith, Hope, Love, Courage, Justice, Nobility, and Mercy are challenged? Where are the boundaries? Plato (427-347 BC) observed that humans all seem to be possessed by some kind of infernal drive to fight over their differences before trying to discover the root and cause of those differences. He also believed that wars between men will stop only when they truly understand the truth about things. However, if Austrians and Serbians could have rationalized over their reasons of expanding territory, perhaps they would never have had triggered World War I. Therefore, when Plato wrote that “Until philosophers must become kings or kings must become philosophers, cities will never have rest from their evils, nor the human race,” perhaps he was probably dreaming of a science-fictional world or some utopian state. But it makes us to ponder, “Is seeking truth with boundaries the way of a Philosopher's life or a season of life?” |
