QUOTE(Kul | Mo0 @ May 13 2010, 01:28 PM) Hehe, I don't actually use the flash that much, probably once every 2-3 days. However, compared to my F20 which uses AAA batteries, over the same period, I probably already changed 8 AAA batteries!!!I think only online. I bought from Shashinki. Search the whole of Low yat Plaza and Sg. Wang last month but couldn't find anybody selling it..... |

QUOTE(kev da man @ May 13 2010, 02:22 PM) I think so... probably 1/16 or 1/32 as I put it on auto. Sometimes I dislike the colour that comes out due to lower power so I occasionally set ISO 200. Kena scolded by my wife due to the extra bright flash on my baby..... This post has been edited by kmarc: May 13 2010, 02:33 PM |

QUOTE(lwliam @ May 13 2010, 02:37 PM) kmarc, if me also i will scold u kao kao.. use natural light la when shooting babies... place the bed near a window, it gives beautiful lighting Errmm... most of my shots are taken when the sun is at the other side of the world!!! Usually take at night after work..... QUOTE(zstan @ May 13 2010, 02:45 PM) @kmarc My baby already 1+ years la.... when she's watching her cartoon, she don't even blink when I flash!!! Most of my flashes are bounced so not that bad......those old people in my family all very pantang using flash shoot babies one..sked they get frightened..better if use higher ISO and natural lighting.. Added on May 13, 2010, 2:52 pm huh ? o.o QUOTE(kev da man @ May 13 2010, 04:07 PM) color changes in lower power? never had that problem before. our HVLs are as consistent as the rest of the great flashes on the market and color temperature change at lower power has never been an issue. O.o but yeah, if conditions are bright, even on auto it will shoot at minimal power for some fill-in. the buggers are damn clever, this ADI thing Errrmmm, I think it is because of the WB. With everything auto, the flash will fire weakly and the picture looks a bit washed-out as compared to ISO 200 where the flash fire strongly and the colours are much nicer.Anybody know the reason for this? WB? I guess I can still fix that by editing the RAW...... This post has been edited by kmarc: May 13 2010, 06:22 PM |

QUOTE(zstan @ May 13 2010, 06:23 PM) Yeah, she say too strong, not good for baby eyes.....That's why I seldom shoot with such power.... and why after one month I still haven't charge my rechargeable Maha PowerEx AA batteries!!! Added on May 13, 2010, 6:25 pm QUOTE(lwliam @ May 13 2010, 06:24 PM) kmarc, weekends can shoot ma.. Color cast from flash is also coz ur flash is bounced from a colored surface/wall Yeah, weekend can shoot too. I see, but somehow the ISO 200 color is better I shoot my baby almost everyday..... QUOTE(zstan @ May 13 2010, 06:30 PM) Yup. QUOTE(lwliam @ May 13 2010, 06:37 PM) lower iso makes the sensor a lower sensitivity to light. Higher iso makes higher sensitivity, esp towards ambient lighting. u can test this out, shoot a dim environment with varying only iso and aperture without flash while keeping the metering same for both shots, on the higher iso shot, u will notice more background is revealed than the low iso shot. I know about that. Will post up an example tonight when I get home regarding the color difference. |

Here's what I mean by nicer color if I set the ISO to 200 or 400 instead of letting it shoot at AUTO ISO.
At ISO 200 or 400, the flash will be powerful while at auto, the flash will be weaker (ISO usually ranging from 800-1200 for my Tamron 1750) 2 pictures, taken consecutively. Basically, snap, change Iso to 400, snap..... Left picture, ISO set to auto. - Iso auto to 800 - Flash - weak Right picture, ISO set to 400. - Iso 400 - Flash - stronger No other settings were changed (Even the WB for both was registered as AUTO (0).) See the colour difference? Why the better colour with lower iso? Note : Oh ya, forgot. Flash is F20 but same effect if using my F58. This post has been edited by kmarc: May 13 2010, 09:26 PM |

QUOTE(ieR @ May 13 2010, 10:45 PM) i just answered kmarc privately.. but i will still tell why Thx for giving me the explanation through phone. Now I understand what's going on. the reason first picture appear a little blue is because metaphor: the florescent in the room fires at 100%, at iso800, it absorb more like, due to the fire fires weaker, perhaps (maybe) at 80% (20% weaker then the florescent, or proper term, shorter period, allow the rest of the opening shuttle for the florescent to overwrite the initial flash) i am now talking bout micro seconds. at iso200, the flashgun fires stronger (longer period to say) enough to over power the florescent light... hence the prettier WB picture and for the weird BG(kitchen)... yes, iso200 should have darker kitchen, but its the DRO that kicks in that make it greenish blue ^^. I'm not too sure whether the light in the kitchen was suddenly switched on. Next time I will try with DRO off. I started playing with DRO last week. Really makes a difference to bring out the dark areas on pictures! This post has been edited by kmarc: May 13 2010, 11:25 PM |

QUOTE(zstan @ May 14 2010, 02:26 PM) Like what hiansitt said, there's no memory effect and you can charge your Li-Ion batteries at any time and don't have to wait until it is almost empty.See here for more info on Li-Ion batteries : http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...entry31393907 This post has been edited by kmarc: May 14 2010, 02:39 PM |
